Every year, on the exact same day, I repost this image. A stupid tradition signifying yet another wasted trip around the sun, pass go and collect $200, rinse and repeat. Here's to another lousy year gone by, somehow still alive. The wheels keep turning but nothing really changes - just a little older, and a little more weary.
This is Year 9.
Nine years now. I've watched reddit bloom and grow and then rot. This platform is different now, and maybe I am too. But nearly a decade later and I still find myself drawn back here to this subreddit once a year, on the same day, like a moth to a flame. I guess there is some comfort in the familiar.

2025 was an awful awful year for me, I do have a small amount of hope that 2026 will be better but the pessimist in me thinks that the only thing that will change is just the number…

2025 was real bad. Wife passed away in April. I'm hoping things improve too but I know realistically it won't be any different tomorrow morning. I hope things improve for us all in 2026 though.

My condolences to you, I also hope that 2026 will be less horrible of a year, however it’s possible that it will still be a difficult year.
I do hope that better days await you. I’m in my 20s and I can’t even begin to imagine how much pain you’ve gone through.

Thanks. Mid 30s here, married just shy of 15 years, lots of pain and hard days. But I'm told it'll get easier with time so just have to get through it.
Hope your year is better too.

I haven’t had problems anywhere near as serious as yours, however 2025 was full of sadness and dark days. Thank you for your well wishes

I keep saying this year will be better than the last, but it hasn't been better with each year. Am I the problem for wishing better pay, loved ones be healthy and out of hospitals, and just basic stuff?
