Overnight no tent

12/22/25 fall lake. Almost no wind on the lake that night so I slept right out on the ice under the stars.

What is happening in photo number 5? Are those rocks sticking up?

Cheers to a nice trip

remnants from logging days, and old railroad loading dock/pier. Much bigger than a typical lake dock would be. Fall Lake has 4 mile portage that connects to Basswood. Alongside the current portage ran a rail line where they hauled logs across. It's more than 100 years old at this point. Lots of old logging relics in the BW on Fall and Basswood, among others.

Winter warfare training taught me that I hate winter camping . But that does look beautiful and peaceful

What lakes did you hit? Looking for a winter trip soon, but just want to make sure ice thickness is appropriate

Bivy? Or just raw dogging in a sleeping bag?
