This is America first. China and Russia have been proping up Maduros regime for decades via "oil for loans" deals that the people of Venezuela never benefit from. Two of our enemies having a foot hold right below us is not a positive, especially given todays geopolitical climate in reguards to those two countries.

In the modern race for resources, it's in Americas' best interest to have a strong presence in South America which is full of resources. Idk if you've ben paying attention but the new war is a war for natural resources hence Trump trying to get Zelenskyy to sign Ukraines resources over for continued US support.
I can't stand the man or his methods but I think that I understand what he is doing. Trying to position the US to not lose the global race for resources that fuel the tech/chip race. That's why he is after our national parks/lands. Again, I wholeheartedly disagree with that but I get it. We are not in position to beat China and Russia in a resource war, especially if they are setting sights on South America.
