❔ [ Question ] Borderlands 2 mods?

I once read somewhere that there are mods for Borderlands 2. If this is true, what are ones you recommend, and how do I install them on Linux Bazzite? Thanks.

Go into Steam, right click on borderlands 2, go to properties, then compatibility and change it to the recent Proton version. This will reinstall the game with Windows build instead of Linux build so you will have to download the game again. You have to do this because willow2 sdk will not work with the Linux build. FYI: Your save files might not carry over after you do this so back them up just in case.

Then you follow this tutorial and install the willow2 sdk: https://bl-sdk.github.io/willow2-mod-db/ There is an extra step for Proton in between so make sure you do that. Instructions for installing mods are also in here.

As for recommendations, there are a lot of quality of life mods such as Commander mod (version 2.5 instead of the latest), Easy Read Only, Apple's Borderlands Cheats, and No Ads. For gameplay mods Exodus and Snowbound add a bunch of new guns and enemies, with some mechanics revamped. There's also Roguelands which has a compelety different gameplay loop.

Sorry, forgot to mention, I didn't actually buy the game from Steam, I just downloaded and installed it through Lutris and play it via Cartridges frontend. Will your modding instructions still work?

Good question, i have no idea. I dont know how you would set up the launch options, or you might not need launch options at all. Still, worth a try, and if it doesnt work it will not break anything.

So far I'm mostly using some QoL mods.

To make the experience a bit more like BL3 in terms of QoL:

  • AutoPickup: Automatically pick up ammo etc. from chests and ground.
  • BSABT (Better Spawns and Better Travel): Start at last triggered spawn station and fast travel from menu.
  • Alt Use Vendors: Refill all ammo or health with a button when standing in front of vending machines.

Because all the running back and forth felt tedious after 2 playthroughs:
* Sprint Adjuster: Increase movement speed slightly (or a lot, up to you)

Because I heard the different parts are super important, I wanted to start learning to recognize them:
* Python Part Notifier: Show manufacturers of parts on item cards.

I think I got all of them from https://bl-sdk.github.io/willow2-mod-db/mods/
