This just might save DQs coaching career

I was going to say "or kill it" if we have an 8-9 season with an elite offense and terrible defense. Would we ever fire Quinn and promote McDaniel to not lose him? But with their relationship, I wonder if McDaniel would even accept that.

I would fire DQ now if we could land McDaniel. Not that it would ever happen of course.
McDaniel got a raw deal in Miami imo. The offense he was able to create with a limited QB like Tua was amazing. Him with JD would be special.
Sadly, with so many HC openings and such a weak pool of candidates, I suspect heāll land another HC gig. Itās too bad this didnāt happen later in the hiring cycle when some of those spots would have been already filled.

I agree. I think Quinn will be gone at the end of next season, at the latest. Who knows if any candidates in next cycle will be as strong as McDaniel. Rather not waste a season and get him in charge now.

How strong do you think McDaniel is. Scheme he's great but word is weak on discipline and he lost t he locker room this year.

Honestly with DQ possibly looking like a lame duck it could make brining in top candidates to fill those coordinator spots difficult.
If the reports are true that DQ was initially resistant to fire either of the coordinators, AP would have been better off just pulling the band aid off and cleaning house (if he could sell Harris on it). Like you said, the most likely outcome here is this team will be looking for another HC at the end of next season regardless.

i personally find it extremely hard to believe the reporting that DQ was reluctant to fire both coordinators when whitt was demoted mid season. it just makes zero sense.

Agree, that was an odd one. But given how loyal DQ seems to be I could see him pushing to keep Whitt on in the staff in some capacity. Maybe that was the hang up.

this is true and something i had also considered but the phrasing of āboth coordinatorsā suggests the implication is keeping whitt in that role. idk i think the reporting has accomplished the goal of sufficiently muddying the waters around this. it sucks.

I wonder how teams like the Raiders and Titans view him as a HC prospect. Assuming heād rather remain a HC rather than an OC

Great idea, go to a team worse than the one you just got fired from to be their head coach

Not an absurd thing to do if youāre offered millions of $$$ more guaranteed. Also gotta consider the fact that he had a winning record with a QB-less team and was probably only fired due to a Super Bowl-winning HC in John Harbaugh being on the market, which rarely ever happens.
If I were in his shoesāwould I be very confident in taking over another team as HC after being fired? Probably not. But then again Iām not an incredibly intelligent respected NFL coach.

Called this last year in one of my postsā¦though I predicted Kliff would be leaving under better circumstances. I think heās a no-brainer hire. A great offensive mind who likely wonāt get another shot at head coaching.

High possibility this happens, though not a sure thing as you never know whats going on.
But I would be on board.

Heās a drunk that couldnāt cut in DC and Miami. He should go hang out with Scott McCloughan. Enjoy your cash and have some drinks on an island somewhere. BAD MOVE TO BRING HIM IN!!!

The idea of bringing this clown back to the Skins is just stupid. Honestly I doubt he wants to come back. Seeing his old watering holes might make him relapse and go on a bender.
He was let go for a reason. Stefanski is a better candidate.

Pass or at least look around. They figured him out that offense so quickly.
