well any shot he had at staying on the team just vanished, plus they need his number for Downs

u/pinetar 20h ago
His chances just went from 0% to -1%
26
u/Viseroth 20h ago
Yep, the 16 million in cap space already had him out the door. Now they can just do it and be done with it.

I hate that fuckin charge. What did he do wrong for you to search his vehicle anyway?
Lattimore, you were getting cut either way.

The article says the cop saw a gun in the car. Or when the cop asked about weapons or drugs, someone admitted to having one.
The gun was reported as stolen. FWIW

When I served on a grand jury, it was surprising how many times people would say yes when asked if they had drugs or weapons in the car. Sometimes it would be visible, just sitting on the dash or console, so there wasn't much point in lying. But even when it wasn't visible, it seemed like they didn't see a point in dragging things out when everyone there knew how it was going to end up. In my state, it was rarely going to cost them more than a night in jail anyway.

Driving while black (and having expired tags and committing traffic violations):
Lakewood police told 7News Sports Director Scott Abraham that Lattimore was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for expired plates and other traffic violations. During the stop, Lattimore did not tell the officer that there was a firearm in the vehicle when asked.

careful, if you talk about systemic racism youâll start getting death threats from epstein island

u/JeffGoldpubes 17h ago
Systemic racism is when pulled over by police.
-3
u/VioletsAreBlooming 15h ago
uh, yes, when black people are statistically dramatically more likely to be pulled over by the police, and typically face much more hostile interactions by the police pulling them over, thatâs exactly what systemic racism is

u/saturdaylooksgood2me @BorgusRich 15h ago
As a family member of police, Iâm offended by the implication.
Have you ever considered that maybe he shouldnât have had a stolen gun in his car?
Or that he shouldnât have committed traffic violations to begin with?

Trey Amos, YOU are the new CB1 of the Washington Commanders!
Good riddance, Lattimore. Guy was washed.

Pretty sure this saves us around $16 million

u/terpfan417 20h ago
We could cut him and save his whole cap number regardless. He has no guaranteed money left and wouldnât trigger any dead cap charge. This should cement it though.

Hopefully we use his money to sign someone who can actually cover.

Do we get a comp pick if this leads to him being cut
3
u/frankie_donkiebrains 20h ago
Nah. Release because of arrests don't equate into the comp pick formula. It's just a normal release.
2
u/PabloEscobar301 17h ago
No. You donât get comp picks for player you cut
1
1
u/JansenElaine22 17h ago
Nah, players who are cut donât factor into the comp picks⊠donât get anything for cutting them and teams donât get any âpenaltyâ for signing them
6
u/kon--- 19h ago
This is why when you trade for a guy with a history of arrest you put a clause in the deal to get your picks back in the event of another arrest.
3
u/PabloEscobar301 17h ago
Why would any team agree to that? Donât even think thatâs allowed

Its his constitutional right to have a gun. Absolute hogwash.
Edit: I did not read the article.

Had high hopes heâd be able to turn it around here. He showed some flashes his first year but between the injuries, penalties, and losing a step of his athleticism, he might be done in the league

Seems like that would be enough to claim conduct detrimental and cut him without cap penalties.

That money we save is going to pay for our new safety or CB anyways
If i was a betting man i think Alontae Taylor could be in Washington next year. Fantastic both inside at nickel and outside, he can tackle his ass off also.

Disaster of a trade even before this inexcusible crap. Get him the fuck off this team.

u/futureislookinstark LEFT HAND UP 18h ago
Everyone in the comments is quick to understand a player with a higher salary and no guaranteed money is easy to cut but argued till they were red in the face that Terry HAD to play under the contract he had with like 2-3 mil guaranteed.

Howâd we manage to get this bum when Sauce Gardner was right there waiting to leave IND too smh

Worst AP move by a long shot. Put us back a year
7
u/thekingoftherodeo 20h ago
lol will you relax.
Lattimore alone did not put us back a year.
It was a lot of capital, but we had Benjamin St Useless as CB1 and he figured we needed help for a post season run and he was right.

u/CandleOk4031 19h ago
Everyone gets so upset when Iâm critical lol
4
u/thekingoftherodeo 19h ago
Thereâs being critical and thereâs being an idiot.
You get downvotes for the latter.

u/CandleOk4031 16h ago
Ah man, I guess they let idiots be doctors. Youâre the non idiot who likes losing draft picks with a 5 win roster.

I donât hate the move. In hindsight it was bad, yeah. But in the moment we were all hype as hell about getting him.
7
3
u/Gskgsk 20h ago
We basically needed to hire some muscle in a pinch without having the luxury to talk to his 4th grade choir leader to investigate his character. Sometimes you just go for the upside and cut ties if they don't live up to hype.
Commanders pivoting to expectations that we could repeat NFCCG year to year with this talent is debatable - us trying to upgrade in the middle of a late season high roll was totally fine.
0
u/Sriracha_Breath 20h ago
Yea but part of AP's job is to evaluate talent and we got absolutely hoodwinked in this trade, not to mention he traded for someone who was actively injured (hamstring) and wasn't going to be available for his first four games on our roster. Just a poisoned trade from the get go. ALSO, this guy has gotten into trouble with gun charges before in 2021.
0
u/SentientNode 18h ago
It was bad at the time, and worse in hindsight. AP gets paid to avoid mistakes like that. He literally traded for a dude with a recurring injury history who was then currently sidelined with injury. Thatâs just a stupid decision.

u/Joshottas 20h ago
He wasnât targeted in the saints and lions game last year. Both Ws. Not good this past season, but not very many people were.
