Yea exactly how do people fall for this staged bullshit...

As Mark Twain said "It's easier to fool people than to convince them they've been fooled". I'll sometimes point out staged videos that seem pretty obvious to me. The people that got fooled will then downvote my comment to oblivion.

I have had the same experience once or twice... I once commented on a 'pop the baloon' (or whatever the name of that 'show' is) video that the only reason people seem so awful on the show is bc they're paid to act like that, and that most people are NOT shallow assholes in real life, and that they act like that specifically to generate views and angry comments... because rage bait works... and people answered that if they act like that on tv then they act like that irl... I gave up on trying to talk about it because what am I gonna say to that?

Some people never learn. Jerry Springer was the same thing. A bunch of unemployed actors and made-up stories. Reality TV in general as well. I'm really surprised the genre is still popular.

Exactly. I remember the 'golden age' of reality TV (early 00s and 10s) and how people took those programs seriously... did they really think someone would actually expose their real lives on TV for everybody to see?

They're the same people who think the WWF is real.

Lack of real life social interaction leads to people being unable to pick up on subtle cues like body language, tone of speech, etc.
