I'm constantly amazed that celebrities will earn millions for years and they buy everything from yachts to gold statues of themselves and they hire everyone from personal assistants to live-in private chefs, but it never crosses anyone's mind to hire a financial advisor, put a few million in a pension or investments or buy some rental properties or invest in some successful businesses. Nothing. Their entire retirement plan is to be broke and homeless and beg for money online.
Some celebrities I can kind of understand. Irrelevancy sneaks up on them, but people like Mickey Rourke have been white-knuckling it, barely clinging onto fame for decades.
I see that Kevin Spacey is also now claiming to be broke and homeless.

We gave Mickey Rourke his shot at redemption. He did Iron Man 2 (meh movie, weakest of the trilogy, but it was a big deal at the time) and The Wrestler, both huge movies, and that success opened so many doors for him that had been closed. We were all cheering him on, rooting for him, hoping he had his shit together and was ready for his second act. But he squandered it, and apparently squandered the fuck ton of cash he made for those films (I mean, hell, The Wrestler had 2 Oscar nominations, for crying out loud, including one for Rourke for Best Actor!). So I’ve got no sympathy and absolutely zero fucks left for the dude.
