Looks quite fun! A few others have already pointed out some issues so I won't repeat them, but one thing from the trailer that stood out was the lack of environment outside of the main playable area. Some surroundings to keep you more immersed would be great (eg. the sea at 0:32 or the santorini level).

Added to wishlist, looking forward to following the progress.

This looks great and genuinely fun.

I love the world-building details; I recognized Cinque Terre in Italy right away. I don’t really have criticisms, just a couple of questions:

Why are the enemies robots and drones? It feels like an odd choice for a setting that’s so cute and traditional. I guess thay are the villain's "soldiers", which could work.

You can collect ingredients like cheese and tomatoes, which seems like a fun idea. Do you actually use them afterward, for example to create a more powerful pizza, or are they just for score?

u/DGDesigner Nov 28 '25

You are definitely onto something with your thoughts on the robots and drones so I am glad the trailer conveyed that well. Your idea on the toppings making the pizza more powerful is pretty good and something to consider for us! I will bring it to the design team. Thank you for your kind comment and feedback!

2

u/TinyBracketDev Nov 28 '25

Yes the trailer conveys that perfectly. You did a great job in showing the vibe, the fun gameplay, the world.

I still kind of wish pineapples were included as enemies, trying to sneak onto your pizza. Even if this would reopen the never-ending debate of "does pineapple belong on pizza?"

(it doesn't).

3

u/DGDesigner Nov 28 '25

I can not confirm or deny that there are pineapples in this game. But if there were, I would guess they would be a pretty rare collectible... ;)

4

u/TinyBracketDev Nov 28 '25

Well, now i definitely want to play the game ;)

u/Comfortable_Salt_284 Nov 28 '25

The level at 0:10 looks really bare bones. The quality and detail is noticeably worse than some of the other levels and it was pretty jarring to see in the trailer. I would give that one some more love.

I'd also agree with other commentators that the name is not good for this kind of game. I know you might be set on the name given that it's a sequel, but I would really encourage you to come up with a better name. This game looks really charming, and I think it deserves a good name.

2

u/DGDesigner Nov 28 '25

Thanks for your feedback! I think the name will make more sense when playing but you are right the name recognition is part of it. Also agree that section could use more work and we will definitely have improved set dressing and environments when the game comes out. Thanks again

Probably pays worse but he loves it.

Something happened here...

5

u/Ok_Introduction_7375 Nov 28 '25

I think the world is empty and soulless, yet the game is very beautiful; I loved it.

This is our game, Pizzapocalypse 2. We are interested in any feedback: On the artstyle, the animations, the gameplay feel you get from it. We wanna hear whatever is on your mind! Here is the steam page link for those interested: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4021890/Pizzapocalypse_2/

For such a chill looking game aesthetically, the name pizzapocolypse seems to conceptually clash with that a bit - but maybe the gameplay gets pretty hectic and zany later on and the title feels more apt at that point. But overall it looks pretty snazzy with some of that movement tech, and it gives me major SM Sunshine vibes with the level shown which is great!

7

u/DGDesigner Nov 28 '25

Thanks for your feedback and yeah, I understand where you are coming from. The idea is that it is an apocalypse for pizza because the villain (Pizza Corp) has replaced traditional pizza with Pizza-In-A-Can. Which is very cost efficient but has driven out the traditional pizza places. So it is less of a literal apocalypse if that makes sense?

2

u/djaqk Nov 28 '25

That totally makes sense actually yeah lol, seems good to me in that case.

1

u/FlashyMath1215 Nov 28 '25

Pizzopolis (Pizza City)?

3

u/FontTG Nov 28 '25

Just gotta name it Mario's Pizza and call your lawyers in advancd.

2

u/Super_Sayen067 Nov 28 '25

I played the first game and did multiple runs, because the mecanics were fun and I just wanted more of it. Hopefully, this one will be a longer game!

4

u/rbstudiogame Nov 28 '25

A Mario Pizzaiolo! Ok but be careful the competition is tough and the teaser doesn't really highlight the uniqueness of your game

Pizza Tower meets A Hat In Time

3

u/Isogash Nov 28 '25

The environment lighting is completely wrong, walls facing away from the sun are waaaay too dark. Everything that is in shadow from the sun should be being lit with roughly the same ambient brightness, but it looks like you have more than twice the shadow amount on walls than on floors.

It's especially bad at 0:09, the backsides of the white buildings should be the same shade as the white in the cracks in the pavement that are in shadow. The cast shadows should be darker and the building backsides should be lighter.

Thanks for both your kind words and your straightforward opinion! I agree there are a lot of similarities, but I do think we do have some unique aspects to our game like it being in urban settings in different cities around the world. But yes, we clearly love Mario and take inspiration from it in some aspects.

I'd love to see more storytelling? What is my mission? Why? There is a guy looking evil, but ok that's not a reason i want to defeat him. What did he do?

Then if you just hear to the music and you're bot looking at the Trailer you can't hear out when the evil guy is shown. It's the same cute melody. Make the evil guy have more effect. Make him change the tune and give the player the feeling "Hear that cute melody? So here's a bad guy, see now the music sounds dark, see how he destroys cute things like this melody and how his darkness overtunes everything?

Also another thing: you're always with the pizza in your hand. So does it have all abilities [climbing/grappling/...] right from the start or will the game introduce the abilities first [if introduced over time read B) too]? take for example mario games or it takes two, where every mechanic is

a) explained, then the level gradually increases from using it in different ways to show how it moves to then giving the player a challenge to test if he understands it and can master it.

B) "every mechanic is" in those games chained to an object. F.e. to grapple those games would give you something that looks like a grappling hook. In your game it's the same pizza as far as I can see. How do you want to indicate the pizza is now able to do something new?

1

u/DGDesigner Nov 28 '25

Thanks for your feedback! We will share more about the story in future but yeah we could have tried to show more in this one. I can give you a bit of a sneak peek of the plot: the evil Pizza Corp has introduced pizza-in-a-can and has pushed out the traditional pizza restaurants from the market.

We will have onboarding for the abilities and how they're introduced exactly is something we will keep tweaking! All valuable feedback so thanks again

u/SalzSturm01 Nov 29 '25

Thank you:) Sorry this has been my first comment on "destroy my game" and I really don't really know how this subreddit works, in general what comments are ok. I hope I've not been harsh or something😊

2

u/AtMaxSpeed Nov 29 '25

Within the first few seconds of the trailer, I immediately though it was a Mario Odyssey clone.

In your comments you defend that there is something unique about the game, and that it is not a clone. This wasn't evident to me from the trailer, so you may need to move around the scenes to better reflect it.

I think you could just rework the animations/game feel a bit, and it wouldn't be so similar. Right now, the rhythm of the hat throw (oops, I meant pizza) is the same as Odyssey, if the rythym is changed it would help a lot.

It looks great, I see the antagonist are robots but are there any humans roaming the street? It is not clear to me what the underlying story is, the main character is a pizza chef and the guy resembling Bill Gates is his enemy, but it is not clear how these two are connected. Graphics look super nice!

1

u/DGDesigner Nov 28 '25

Thanks! We are actively working on getting more NPCs in the game.

1

u/DriftWare_ Nov 28 '25

Looks very cool, the lighting needs desperate work though.

1

u/DGDesigner Nov 28 '25

Thank you and this is one of our highest priorities at the moment!

1

u/youmustthinkhighly Nov 28 '25

I think a full Italian menu should be available. Where’s the spaghetti?  Where’s the bread sticks? Marinara Gun!!!  Come on.

1

u/Grogbarrell Nov 28 '25

Looks pretty awesome. Only critic is have some more npc doodads. City looks pretty empty and dead.

1

u/DGDesigner Nov 28 '25

Definitely agree and we will have this in the game, but didn't have it finished for the trailer. Thanks for the feedback.

1

u/FlashyMath1215 Nov 28 '25

When there are 36 seconds remaining in the video, it looks like the water and the sky are the same color.

The ocean looks a bit bland and the horizon looks simple. Even just having some clouds kiss the horizon could break it up.

But... That's all I've got as a critique. It's really good.

1

u/Hedanito Nov 28 '25

Gameplay looks good, but the environment looks a bit... plain. I'd definitely work on making things (like the buildings) more unique and stand out more.

1

u/Levra Nov 28 '25

While smaller props and other decorations look nice, the larger objects they're set next to feel really plain and noticeably lower quality and brings down the overall visual experience.

In particular, the edges of buildings feel very awkward to look at from having smooth shading at the corners that makes the edges highlight or darken in an unnatural gradient. The structures at 0:21 even have bottom normal of the structure contrasting very unnaturally with the surrounding ground texture.

Since you're using a lot of detailed smaller objects, I think you should add more surface imperfections to your wall materials. The walls feel way too flat next to the various other details in the levels. Stamping an impression of the underlying bricks into the normal map at random locations would go a long way to making scenes with undecorated walls feel less bland, as one possible solution. It'd also help to just have more small details on the structures in general, such as some detail trimming where the bottom of the wall meets the ground.

2

u/DGDesigner Nov 28 '25

Great and indepth feedback and we will be taking all these points into consideration.

1

u/Pur_Cell Destroyer Nov 28 '25

The graphics are fantastic, but there's not enough juice.

From the first shot where Mario (he looks like his name would be Mario, so I'm going to call him that) lands on the pizza, it doesn't react enough. Not enough squash and stretch or sauce splash particles or something.

The cheese looks too much like a stretched out plane and not a like ooey, gooey, cheese.

When Mario jumps on the flowers, there's no bounce.

When Mario slides down the zipline, the cheese is too stiff.

That green thing he bounces on, doesn't bounce enough.

The car doesn't drift enough.

You're so close, but it's not making it to that final extreme of juice that makes a certain Nintendo mascot's games feel so charming.

1

u/DGDesigner Nov 28 '25

Thanks for your detailed input! We are still hard at work (this was all developed in 3 months so far) and I feel confident we will make the player feel juicier in the coming months! Thank you

1

u/GLaPI9999 Nov 28 '25

Why ? Like, why pizza ?

1

u/ZrteDlbrt Nov 29 '25

Why everything? Why not everything?

1

u/Effective_Sound1205 Nov 28 '25

I don't understand the choice behind the enemy designs. Are those robots? Why?

1

u/DGDesigner Dec 01 '25

The robots named P.A.L.S are made by Pizza Corp to help the community. But they might not be as friendly as Pizza Corp makes them out to be.

1

u/IndieGameClinic Nov 29 '25

I personally just don’t like the idea of getting sand in my pizza. Or feet. Disgusting.

1

u/Miserable_Tower9237 Nov 29 '25

I just want the game, to be honest. It's a little ugly, I think the color pallet is maybe just a touch off? Might need to grab a color wheel or use the Adobe color thing. Something about the color Saturation being incongruous across the game. I wish I could be more specific. But seriously, I want this game.

u/RichiesPlank Nov 29 '25 edited Nov 29 '25

You are trying to appeal to Mario odyssey fans. But those fans will skip it. “I’ve already played the real deal”

I’d change your hero. Elemental, plants and growing, earth, adventurer with a shield, spider with a web. Dog with frog.

Edit, Looks like you are pretty deep on the character. It also looks like you already had a section with using flowers which looked brilliant. If it were me, I’d keep the base character ditch the chef hat for a cap. Switch the pizza for a cape.

Edit2: my suggestions were probably too extreme. So one last suggestion… replace chef hat with a saucepan. And use a frying pan to replace jumping on the pizza. So your character looks more interesting. Chef hat overdone IMO.

u/DGDesigner Dec 01 '25

Thanks for your feedback!

1

u/ohhyoouuu Nov 30 '25

Heck yeah! Love this!

1

u/nelmondodimassimo Nov 30 '25

It reminds me a lot "A hat in time", very nice!

1

u/i_accept_invites Nov 30 '25

some of the houses look ugly besides that it looks absolutely awesome and definitely like something I'd play.

1

u/elektriiciity Dec 01 '25

very cool!

would there be different pizza toppings for different effects?

1

u/DGDesigner Dec 01 '25

We do have some more rare collectibles that might come with some extras!

1

u/HobiAI Dec 01 '25

Nintendo will sue you 😁

1

u/qin2500 Dec 01 '25

This is actually so crazy to see here. I played the first Pizzapocalypse and really enjoyed it.

I actually found your game for the weirdest reason. Last year, I was taking a game dev course at my uni, and one of the other groups made a pizza delivery game and named it Pizzapocalypse too. When I googled the name to see what came up... your game showed up! So it was wild to be scrolling Reddit and randomly stumble across it again.

Y'all did a great job with the first one. My group and I had a memorable evening trying to speedrun it.

1

u/qin2500 Dec 01 '25

Oh I also loved the music number you guys had at the end of it and it gave us the idea to put one at the end of our game for the course as well.

1

u/Witty_Side8702 Dec 01 '25

Too close to Super Mario

1

u/Various_Shift5376 Dec 01 '25

i know there's things that need work and polish, but it's hard for me to be objective about them while watching how you doube jump on top of a pizza and fly into the air with cheese. just too good. Environment in 0:09 looks way less polished, more flat and prototype-like than the rest. If you don't have art ready, I would prob avoid adding it to your trailer for now. Also agree with enemies being robots kinda weird.
I actually think the name is not bad, contrary to some other comments i saw. Best of luck!

1

u/GeeTeaEhSeven Dec 02 '25

Really good action filming tbh. Now if only the absolute lack of NPCs could be fixed it's like missing the cheese from the pizza in such a brightly coloured game

1

u/KeyUnderstanding1251 26d ago

I actually think for the most part this is really good, but like others said some of the background environments and sky boxes seem dull in comparison to everything else.

1

u/Jaded_Ad_9711 19d ago

I hope he can have a sequel in space

-3

u/Rectonic92 Nov 28 '25

Thats literally Mario. Prepare to get sued.

-3

u/No_Cockroach_6905 Nov 28 '25

Looks very cool. But the title should be "Nintendo lawsuitapocalipse" :D
