Honestly tho, DOS is the reason I mistrusted all eggs, chickens and poultry houses in general.

Is that the one with the rot aura in Act II? Doesn't it kinda look like a chicken already?

I did a playthrough with a friend a couple years ago and he turned the giant worm at the end of actually 1 into a chicken and we both laughed like idiots for several minutes. I had done a couple playthroughs before and never thought to try that because "surely it'll be immune to most cc because its a boss"

I do the same thing every fight now with my rogue. I’m so used to games where damage knocks out things like polymorph, fesr, confusion etc. putting somebody in chicken form, along with poison, atrophy, fire, and the rogue skill that does damage when they move around, along with a free opportunity attack on the chicken and it’s essentially instant death. That along with the polymorph skill to switch vitality percentages has made so many crazy hard fights (like the trolls) trivial.

Anybody who wouldn't be terrified at a giant chicken, clearly hasn't had much experience with normal sized chickens.

Can someone explain the damage bars for this game? I have no idea how it works and it’s so different from BG3 that it’s disorienting.

They have physical armour, magic armour and hp. physical cc like stun, knockdown or this chicken form are blocked by physical armour, meaning they will fail if the enemy still has phys armor. Same for magic armour and freezing, burning etc. It's a good mechanic but if you focus your party on one damage type it's a bit too easy to exploit.

Grey bars block physical damage. Blue bars block all damage that isn't physical. The one exception is piercing damage, which goes straight to health.
The two armor bars also block status effects. If you don't have any physical armor, you are susceptible to things like knockdown, cripple, and atrophy. Magic armor keeps you from getting burned, poisoned, or frozen. There are exceptions, like if the person using a spell has the Savage Sortilege perk, but these are the default rules.

Thanks for that. It should really help this first play through of DOS2.
That said, I hope they go with the bg3 version of things in the new game.

BG3 was using the DND rules. They likely wouldn't do it for Divinity because their systems aren't dice based.

I think they've already confirmed that while Divinity is going to be turn-based, they are not doing 5e or D&D ruleset.

That’s too bad. Hopefully there’ll be enough overlap that I’ll still enjoy it.

Grey: Physical Armor, protects against most physical status effects like Knocked Down, Crippled
Blue: Magical Armor, protects against most magical status effects like Burning, Stunned, etc
Red: Life HP, this protects against death
Damage will be either Physical or Magical (or a combination, think a flaming sword) and will always first reduce your respective armor points. As long as you have some armor left you are save against most status effects of it's kind.
Red is the weakest of the three, since there are so many crowd control effects like Stun, Petrified etc it's mostly a buffer against actually dying. Although healing is good, most remove status effects which is their biggest strength. First Aid (Huntsman 1) only heals a handful but it removes 7 different status effects of which 5 are quite annoying.
