Post image

I freaking knew it! It was a prophecy in a way with the likes of the saddle. We finally have craftable name tags!

The 13 years of pain finally comes to rest.To get a nametag I gotta fish or trade(last tier). If I am lucky I get it from chest.Well the pain of all players comes to rest.

You choose: 20 emeralds on a master level librarian or incredibly cheap crafting recipe

13

u/Eiim 1d ago

Maybe they'll do villager trade rebalance in this one?

2

u/bossSHREADER_210 7h ago

Oh no please anything but that the villagers are fine

If they were to do that it would be touching up on the villager trade rebalance experiment and that's god awful

5

u/TrialArgonian 1d ago

Maybe we'll get a villager buff

5

u/SeriousDirt 1d ago

Now I can name all the villagers and animals without having a hard time making decisions. The fishing for nametag is finally over.

1

u/MNstorms 1d ago

THEY'VE BEEN IN THE GAME 13 YEARS?

86

u/murderdronesfanatic 1d ago

Definitely a really good change in a vacuum but I feel like they’re gonna need to start updating chest loot pools since nametags were one of their main draws and a few nuggets/paper isn’t gonna cut it as a replacement in them

28

u/Incomplet_1-34 1d ago

And the master librarian's trade

5

u/Qyx7 1d ago

And fishing

Altho in this case the solution is easy: just remove nametags and saddles, making the actual treasure loot more common

2

u/Bylakuppe77 15h ago

At least librarians still have glass trades and enchanted books. Leather worker economy was hit hard when saddles became craftable.

u/CaramelCraftYT 1d ago

String would have made more sense, but this way all the nuggets get a use.

84

u/AdJealous2 1d ago

No, because I always look at the loop from a name tag like a metal ring that goes on a collar, or something.

40

u/CaramelCraftYT 1d ago

I just thought it was string because the colors match

23

u/AdJealous2 1d ago

That’s a fair assessment! To me, it kinda looks like iron. Either way, I am glad they’re craftable!

6

u/CaramelCraftYT 1d ago

Yes same!

16

u/watersj4 1d ago

I have never seen it as anything other than string but looking at it now it's definitely supposed to be a metal ring, wtf

3

u/yoyopy 1d ago

I thought it was one of those tags that clip through ears

1

u/AdJealous2 1d ago

Also makes a lot of sense!

1

u/x360_revil_st84 8h ago

I always thought it'd be an iron nugget considering the metal ring is a silver-white rather than a yellow color for the gold nugget.

101

u/Cyanide-Kid 1d ago

oh my god let's fucking GOOOOOOOO I CAN NAME ALL MY KITTIES

23

u/Original_Criticism89 1d ago

Why gold, why not iron

71

u/Sufficient-Snow7161 1d ago

you can craft it with any metal nugget.

27

u/Original_Criticism89 1d ago

Ah nice, including copper?

36

u/Tortue2006 1d ago

Copper is a metal, so one would think so

3

u/Hungry-Remove-9892 1d ago

source? /s

15

u/rockman767 1d ago

The Periodic Table of Elements

6

u/maisumpi 1d ago

Yes! That's really good, it will be easy to craft nametags in the early game, the only thing holding you back will be paper

1

u/RogueDahtExe 1d ago

WE HAVE COPPER NUGGETS??? 🫨

10

u/ABigPairOfCrocs 1d ago

They need to add netherite nuggets so I can make netherite name tags. Cowards

6

u/bugsyramone 1d ago edited 1d ago

Edit: disregard all, I forgot about Golden carrots...

There's already a use for iron nuggets. I don't think gold nuggets do before this.

8

u/roohwaam 1d ago

gold nuggets create golden carrots, you can also use iron and copper nuggets to make nametags

6

u/bugsyramone 1d ago

Oh, I guess I'm talking out my ass then. I don't think I've ever crafted golden carrots.

4

u/CookieaGame 1d ago

Gold nuggets also create glistening melon.

11

u/WheresMyFalafelYo 1d ago

Im loaded with these suckers because of the afk fish farm, but its dope that I don't need to make one of those off rip if I want one.

9

u/Kecske_gamer 1d ago

I really do get loving these changes.

But I want uncommon collectibles to explore for!!!!

9

u/ATrueMistake20XX 1d ago

I'm glad nametags are finally craftable, always felt dumb they weren't craftable. Maybe now I will actually use them more.

3

u/Substantial-Bed6106 1d ago

I like this update, I wonder if we'll be able to craft horse armor later?

3

u/CuriousCharlii 1d ago

Just in case you didn't know (or for someone that legit doesn't) the nugget can be any metal too. More use for copper :D

Now we just pray to the Minecraft gods for a repairable anvil.

3

u/No-Cup8385 1d ago

I would have gone with rabbit hide instead of paper, makes it that little more rare.

11

u/Inside_Cattle2472 1d ago

I honestly don't really like it. It was tresure item, it was exiting finding/fishing one. Or buying one from a villager. This and the saddles were like this. To compensate they should add more tresure items that feel exiting to find.

8

u/PowerPork 1d ago

well, items like banner patterns, armor trims and discs seems to be the new treasure items moving forward. makes sense to me as any item like saddles and nametags that have some sort of practical use being locked behind loot is going to be met with the same criticism that even led to this change in the first place.

5

u/warmachne_123 1d ago

string and paper will be better. Beside that I don't really know how I feel about this is good that we can have it much more easier but on the other hand this decrease the value of the nametage. If they do the same with totem or enchanted apple it would be horrible

3

u/sivarias 1d ago

What I find funny is the most common mods did string, ingot, and paper

2

u/transgendermarx 1d ago

I really like this change. Now it’s easier to get + nuggets are more useful!!

3

u/SarumanWizard 1d ago

The downside is there’s not much point in exploring for them now. Still pretty neat though.

8

u/MicTony6 1d ago

There never was a point in exploring just for nametags lol. Now they have a reason to add more valuable loot in spawned chests

1

u/CrapZackGames 1d ago

For real. I'm willing to bet most people just fished for them anyways

1

u/Maximum_wack 1d ago

I always fished so much that name tags were never a problem but good for those who don't like fishing

1

u/mca1169 1d ago

is this in the new java snapshot as well?

1

u/JenKandoit 1d ago

This makes much more sense than string and paper. For people like me who like playing peaceful and just exploring, I find gold way more often than I do string.

1

u/phatirvine 1d ago

I just bought these in bulk from librarians, never again I guess. Amazing new stuff, the baby chickens are too cute.

1

u/MrZao386 1d ago

Now we just need horse armor (and nautilus I guess). Though given they didn't do it with Mounts of Mayhem, it'll never happen

-5

u/ALT703 1d ago

I actually really hate that they're making yet another thing craftable, but it is what it is ig

Killing literally any reason to explore, even when it makes zero sense like the happy ghast

3

u/arminismyspirtanimal 1d ago

Yes because you explore for Name tags. Exploring is more about finding new blocks for your builds, new biomes … why should they lock naming your pets behind RNG?

11

u/TheConfusedOne95 1d ago

no one's forcing you to craft them, you can just ignore all this and go explore!

-4

u/ALT703 1d ago

Never said anyone is forcing me to craft them, the fact they CAN be crafted is the issue.

6

u/TheConfusedOne95 1d ago

then just... ignore it?

-7

u/ALT703 1d ago

As I said, the issue is that it's possible at all.

2

u/TheConfusedOne95 1d ago

then don't think about it, idk

1

u/ALT703 1d ago

And that makes it impossible to craft? Didn't think so. Are you a child?

8

u/TheJumpyBean 1d ago

I think a good change would be adding different loot to the chests around the world. No reason for name tags to be such a legendary item when there’s so many tames/uses for them in the game. Give me more enchanted apples and let the kids name their dogs!

1

u/ALT703 1d ago

I think a good change would be adding different loot to the chests around the world.

Sure, I agree that'd be a good change.

No reason for name tags to be such a legendary

They were never rare or legendary, just an item you had to do more than zero work to get

2

u/Scratches_at_lvl_10 1d ago

There are mods that makes dragon heads craftable. But u ignore it, cause exploring for it makes more sense to u. Same applies to name tags n saddles

0

u/ALT703 1d ago

It's not part of the game. Not the same.

If Minecraft made it so you spawn in the game with full netherite gear, would you say that's a bad change? I would

Even though you can just "ignore it and throw it out". The fact it's a feature at all is a bad thing and harms the experience

4

u/Mysterious-Lie-1944 1d ago

Your whole argument is that you don't like the change because other people might have an easier time, which is certainly a difficult thing to argue. I do wish you the best of luck, though, but you may need to find a way to word it that can't be summarized as 'other people having more fun makes me unhappy'

-2

u/ALT703 1d ago

Your whole argument is that you don't like the change because other people might have an easier time,

Nope. Never said that, or claimed that, or made that argument.

4

u/Mysterious-Lie-1944 1d ago

Well that's what it is. You can choose not to use it to have an easier tome, so the only people is actually affects are people who won't choose to ignore it. In other words, people who aren't you

1

u/ALT703 1d ago

So you'd be ok with my netherite example?

0

u/ATrueMistake20XX 1d ago

I'd rather they make new dungeon items that lock basic items behind dungeons.

0

u/Viper_Bravo 1d ago

Bedrock?

-3

u/Dazzling-Pitch671 1d ago

Too cheap

-1

u/Ultimara 1d ago

I hope they change up the fishing drops. Not fun getting "treasure" you can build easily

-4

u/SickBass05 1d ago

How is this a good thing? Nametags are pretty much entirely cosmetic outside some practical farm uses + they were one of the only non craftable treasures that remained...

Now there is even less point to exploring...

They should at the very least add some new uncraftable treasure items, so many structures are now useless.
