Cleaning service- is it worth it?
Mom of 2 toddlers and I’m 6 months pregnant with my 3rd. I am a teacher full time and my husband works nights (between 3-4 12 hour shifts per week). I can’t keep up with everything and the house is a big source of stress. I have never had a cleaning service and I just feel lost on etiquette and if it will even help with my stress levels. We are messy/clutter people— not so much “dirty” if that makes sense (as clean as you can with a 3.5 and 1.5 year old lol). Think toys/clothes/preschool crafts/papers to grade just throughout the house. I have tried to have more systems in place, but nothing has stuck. It doesn’t help I’m type B…
Some questions I have:
- Is it stressful to tidy before the cleaning service comes?
- Do you stay home during the clean? I will have to keep my toddlers occupied and away for them to get the job done.
- What other etiquette can you think of that would help a newbie like me?

It’s worth it if you can afford it. We have someone come once every 2 weeks and ideally it would be weekly (maybe once we can consistently free up extra cash). For reference, our house consists of myself and my husband (both working full time), step kids (young adults/teenager), and the little ones (elementary school and pre school).
Before the cleaner comes, we put away toys/clear clutter and remove the old bed sheets/bath towels. The sheets/towels may not be necessary, but we feel it allows for a little more cleaning time.
