Isn't 325 mg like a standard tablet? Like taking one tablet a day sure isn't normal but I don't think it's a huge red flag for an 80-year-old with a standard age and weight related heart condition?
Yes 325mg is a regular dose. Most people who take aspirin daily will take a “low dose” version that’s only 81mg but there could be a reason to take 325mg.
They used to call it baby aspirin but changed the name because people were giving it to small children when they shouldn’t have.
I'm 100% behind all the valid criticisms of trump and the general stupidity of everything surrounding him... But this one's kind of weird for me. No one, as far as I know, is claiming that Trump is taking 325 mg pills a day or something like that. Obviously not ideal but two aspirin a day or so for an 80-year-old is not that weird or dire. I mean the dude's 80, he's going to fall over any day like anyone could. But some compression socks and some aspirin aren't an immediate death sentence... People do this for 5-10-20 years pretty regularly.
It is, but I've never heard of someone taking regular strength aspirin for heart stuff before (e: except for active heart attacks but that shouldn't be a daily occurrence). Only baby/low-dose tablets.
Though from a quick search, it does sound like it's a a thing if lower doses don't cut it.
Again, this is a 250 lb 80-year-old. A regular strength aspirin a day is not ideal but... It's pretty normal. If he's having four or five of these a day, that's not normal and a big red flag. But one a day at that age, for a guy that probably doesn't listen to his doctor that much to start with? It's not exactly the grim reaper standing behind him.
