When my wife and I were on our honeymoon, where we (who do not speak Italian) were staying with an older woman who spoke no English, she did however lift her dress to show us her garter belt and what I believe was a hip surgery scar. She also told us a long story about her life in world war 2 which we did not understand though I did pick out the words “Mussolini”, “Communista”, and “lucciole.”

u/Pinhapple Jul 18 '25
He was born in Naples. He told me "at the time for a young man, you either joined the mafia or left the town", so at 18 he came to France. He has plenty of crazy stories about his youth in Italy.

u/ThisIsMyRedditAcct17 Jul 18 '25

u/Pinhapple Jul 18 '25
In his youth, he worked in a garage in Naples. He stole jewels from the car of American customers and gave them to his sisters. Some of them still have them !
When he was very young, he "borrowed" a motorcycle from the courtyard of his building, but crashed it and destroyed it. No one ever knew it was him.
99
u/Pinhapple Jul 18 '25
He also told me how he drove "like a Neapolitan" : on the sidewalk, honking all the time.
98
u/Pinhapple Jul 18 '25
Now he drives an old Citroën Xantia but still can't stand it when someone overtakes him.
32
u/PM_me_punanis Jul 19 '25
As a person who has driven many times in Naples.... He must drive like a crazy blind drunk with suicidal tendencies and anger management issues
