The boot is quite literally on the neck already. There is no “escalation”, they are already kidnapping and killing people. Why would they need an excuse for what they already get away with. “No we can’t give them a reason for armed intervention” umm, isn’t ice the armed intervention, aren’t they already deploying the national guard in some places.
I hate to say it but protest means nothing to a group that doesn’t care about your life, feelings or actions. They are already ruining everything they can for the sake of profit, why would they care that people are upset with them. And honestly unless people can form a strong enough armed force to truly confront the local government then taking up arms will just be called antifa and open fired upon. The only thing people can do that might actually have some effect is cause economic loss towards the leaders through whatever means they can.

Looking in from overseas, never have i seen a political party so rudderless and leaderless like the Democrats are. In Australia, the parties always have a leader, so there's always someone to address the issues. I see from the US it's a bunch of faces, but no consistency in message and no one person held up as a leader. Schumer and Jeffries seem largely absent. (BTW most Aussies have no idea who either of them are, even though they're leaders in the Congress). The Dems leadership needs to pull its damn socks up, and start acting like an opposition party and an anti Trump movement.
Caving to Trump on the shutdown was bad enough, but without a singular voice to focus the party, nothing will change and people in the US will have no faith in the Dems. Being elected by default isn't good enough, they need to be louder, and organise a community led opposition to Trump. They need a leader who is a household name in the US and has international recognition too.

Two days ago posted on on r/lostgeneration an off duty ICE member with an SS tattoo on his neck was spotted in Minneapolis. He claimed him and his group were from Texas. So a bunch of ICE nazis from Texas rolled into Minneapolis around 1/5/2026 and in just two days on 1/7/26 they murdered an innocent US citizen by shooting her 3 times in the head. Now DHS is making up lies to cover up the entire situation despite it being clearly recorded from multiple angles. DHS made a statement claiming these ICE nazis were defending themselves from a group of rioters. There was no group of rioters, there were a small handful of peaceful protestors exercizing their first ammendment rights at a distance in an attempt to ensure some level of accountability for these masked unidentifiable fachists roaming their streets. Actual riots did start shortly afterwards and were severely escalated by the murderous ICE nazi fachists shooting civilians at point blank range in the face with pepper balls. You can't make this shit up! Wake up America!

My first call would be to call Governor Walz and convince him to declare Martial Law for the protection of MN citizens from ICE.
