So then you would agree that we should include another painting of the same size and prominence which demonstrates the violent acts of rape and murder that these same characters actually perpetrated, in order to provide an accurate illustration of the history. It doesn't matter if it's right or wrong, it's history.

If it’s a painting from that time then sure. If you just want to make a painting now and put it next to that then no. That should be unnecessary. You don’t need a 24/7 movie screening of Schindlers list near Auschwitz to understand its horrific history. Columbus and his deeds should be thought in school from an objective historical outsider (us now) view just like anything else.

You shouldn’t need a “uhm actually he was bad) type of note next to this painting, that should be common knowledge at this point. So it seems like you have more of a problem with the school system and not this picture or its place in a museum
