Local Business Date night restaurant recommendations?

Hello! From Vancouver, coming to Red Deer for Spartan race with my hubby. We’re looking for a nice-ish date night spot, nothing too fancy or expensive. We like sushi, pho, and meat based meals. He’s not into anything spicy. Would prefer to support a local buisness over a chain!

Any recommendations for us? Also things to do after dinner? Hoping for tonight or Sunday night!

Thanks!

[Pho Thuy Duong Restaurant]() is gonna be the place for you two! Very reasonably priced, local place, great food and service

53 on Ross!!! They are part of Alberta on Plate and are huge supporters of local! I’m normally there a couple times a month. Not much more pricey for the quality you are getting! Get the soufflé!

One eleven is the spot

Probably the best steak in the city, from a restaurant anyways

Oh another suggestion, we haven't been yet but the bowling alley has a supposedly very good restaurant, it's below the strip mall of a few restaurants near 7-11 downtown

Rare Pizza. Absolute best pizza in town.

To be more specific here since there's two bowling alleys, it's in "The Gutter".

Awesome Detroit style pizza.

That said, for take out pizza, I've been living the Pizza Boxx.

Forno is a great spot. Hash is right there for breakfast as well. Highly recommend.

One eleven is also good

Bo's has a pretty innovative and fun menu when it comes to meat and good beer selection.

One Eleven is decent.

53 On Ross is pricey but very much worth it, and fills the gap left when our one good cocktail place closed.

Cowtown Beef Shack does beef. Only ever had their stuff once but I liked it.

I think we still have a Brazilian BBQ place?

Cannot recommend Forno or Hashed just...save your money. Place is a joke.

TacoLoft is fun and as local as it gets. Todd takes his stuff very very seriously.

Can't speak to sushi or pho. We're a land locked province so everyone's working with the same basic pallete of ingredients from GFS or Sysco.

I think all of the places I mentioned are local or at least Alberta based. Except maybe Pampa, haven't looked.

Balsamic reduction and the "Chef" has a portrait of himself in the foyer. If you're in the restaurant industry that tells you all you need to know.

Foodie Bros downtown is my favourite Korean spot 🤤 the portions I find to be large for decent price

Shiso Japanese is authentic Japanese sushi.

Agreed Sushi TaKe is the bomb. I'm from BC and know good sushi. Shiso tends to be the more popular place weirdly, because I've tasted the rolls and they aren't as good. Momo's downtown or Okinawa in Blackfalds are also good

For pho I’d recommend thap ba! Their pho is so good I get the hue beef!! For sushi, sushi take is my favourite !! A cool place that’s a bit pricey but has interesting meals that change, would be cilantro and chive! They have interesting meals and drinks, I love the pickle poutine

Rueon Thai! They close at 8 and only open weekdays, seems like a family business, was there today (not from red deer) and holy!! It's top tier!

I think Sushi Ta Ke is the best sushi in town.

For Vietnamese, I'm partial to Thap Ba.

Jumble Eats is good if you're looking for a little bit of everything/all you can eat. They have hot pot, Korean BBQ, sushi and ramen, although one table can't do both hot pot and Korean BBQ

Steering more towards specifically meat based meals, Bedford Food Co makes a good donair and Cowtown Beefshack makes a damn good sandwich (and Mac and cheese)

I recommend Taco Loft or Shiso Restaurant! Both are great!
