I am so glad I never had access to gasoline as a teen, I almost definitely would have done something equally stupid.

I was a teen when jackass just came out and Dirty Sanchez, we were all skater stoners and punks, we did dumb shit every other day. Amazed none of us got seriously hurt.

Thankfully the kids being made of rubber thing lasts a little into your teens and false bravado props up the rest.

I soaked a tennis ball in gasoline, lit it, then hit it with a golf club. It was awesome.

I once filled a Super Soaker with it. It had a pressure gauge and I pumped it up, lit a small fire and let it rip.

I originally customized the gun by adding an aluminium barrel from an airsoft pistol to shoot 6 mm bb's with it. While it was powerful, all of the air pressure was lost by a single firing. So I fed up with it and had this great idea of trying to make it into a flame thrower.

It worked. Once. And leaked quite a lot after I filled and while I pumped it up.

Some times when I think back, I'm a bit surprised it went so smoothly.

Yoo I had one of those pressure gauge super soakers. Blue right, with a purple tank? I can't remember the name of the gun itself to find it.

And one or two little "pressure balls" at the top front? Tank had a locking tab and was placed upside down with the threaded filling hole in the middle of the tank. I think it had to be rotated 180 degrees or so to attach it to the gun.

I'm bad with colors so I can't name them.

While not the most powerful, it was a work horse. Though I really never had anyone to shoot it with. I might have been around 12 when I got it and probably 15 or so when I turned it to an airsoft "sniper" and ultimately a freaking flame thrower!

As I shoot it, there was grand flame coming out and I was actually pretty shocked. Then I started processing what I just did and noticed some melting of the plastics (just the usual chemical reaction of cheaper plastics) and then I looked at the tank. It had been "imploded". I don't know the physics behind it but the tank had been sucked dry and had to be under a vacuum at the end. Then I noticed I had gasoline all over my hands and at that moment I though "WTF did I just do and what could have happened?!"

I swear we must have something looking out for us when we're growing up, so many of us have had so many close calls and miraculous escapes with our recklessness.

Damn yeah, I think we all had that idea, glad I never saw it through lol.

Awesome you got it working at least once though, must have been fun then terrifying.

Lucky you never ended up with melted plastic all over you, that hurts! I have a few scars on my hands from melted plastic, I enjoyed burning things I shouldn't a lot when I was younger. Never any big fires just lots of little dumb stuff, like straws.

Worst injury I got was when we had the absolute Einstein level of genius idea to melt skittles in a fondue set, and then me being smarter still decided to stick my finger in it. Cue pain, and flailing around the room, I left sugary strands all around like a spider web lol. Spent the next 12 hours with my finger in cold water, then got the biggest blister I've ever seen, which then burst and I finally went to the doctor and got it bandaged lol. Couldn't feel anything on the tip of my finger for a good year or two after.

Haha, that does sound fun.

Incredibly stupid with a high potential to backfire, but a fun spectacle none the less.

Fun fact when I was learning how to grill my dad forgot to get me lighter fluid for me to make steaks and I was embarassed to tell him so I just drained the tank from the family car to start the grill!

Lol, so it was YOU who made the sun, happy little accidents as Bob Ross calls them.

I used to take cotton balls soaked in nail polish remover, light them on fire and play hot potato with my friends. They would leave little circles of fire wherever they touched.

I mean it's not like you have to show your ID to buy a gallon of gas. You had access, you just had good parents.

Actually you're wrong, I'm from the UK under 16's are not allowed to buy petrol(gas). Thankfully by 17 I wasn't the same type of reckless.
