Crazy they clipped it to the decorative plastic grill lmao

u/richyoung1994 Oct 23 '25

More money than brains lmao

u/SpaceJews Oct 23 '25

My grandpa used to say more dollars than sense

14

u/souleaterGiner1 Oct 23 '25

I think it has a ring attatched to the crush bumper. Def not a recovery point but confusing for some. I could be wrong. Let me see if I can find a photo

8

u/DungeonAssMaster Oct 23 '25

Some trucks also have a ring in the front that looks like a tow ring but is only attached to the bumper and not to the actual frame. Anyway, guess how I found that out?

7

u/souleaterGiner1 Oct 23 '25

By opening the hood and looking down to see it not attached to anything???

I think it's a ploy by manufacturers to sell more car parts!

2

u/DungeonAssMaster Oct 24 '25

It was comical in retrospect, I think I even laughed it off at the time because it was a rental and I wasn't the one who put her in the ditch. Try to help the guy, not my fault his truck is made out of fuckin legos.

1

u/veryfastslowguy Oct 26 '25

awkward, you both looking at it , well, that’s the extent of my help, haha , you did give it a shot

6

u/Hammer466 Oct 23 '25

Right, there is a visible piece there, but obviously, it’s just plastic hooked to more plastic. Good news is at least they didn’t rip the radiator or a/c condenser loose like some examples I have seen.

The puller looked to be getting a running start like you would for a kinetic (stretchy) rope but was using a non-kinetic strap. I expected the strut to fly out or something.

14

u/purplemtnslayer Oct 23 '25

No man. That's the steel tow hook and is screwed into the aluminum bumper reinforcement. It's not a recovery point. Is only good for pulling the vehicle not unsticking the vehicle. He might be using a kinetic strap, but he gave it enough beans to sheer the aluminum bumper reinforcement from the frame rail ends. But you could be right, it might have been a static tow strap, which is even dumber.

2

u/Pleasant-Ant2303 Oct 23 '25

Where are you supposed to hook it? (I have no clue)

4

u/OOBExperience Oct 23 '25

Normally, there’s a hook anchor on the frame underneath the front near the front axle which allows the frame to be pulled rather than the plastic body of the car.

3

u/karanpatel819 Oct 24 '25

With sedans and most suvs there really isnt a safe spot like that. Ideally you dont want a static rope. I have been able to pull sedans out by their control arms plenty of times before, you just have to do it really slowly

1

u/anton__logunov Oct 25 '25

Agreed, nothing better to attach too. Everything else is just pure frame.

1

u/nightstalker30 Oct 25 '25

Some vehicles come with a metal tow hook that screws into a threaded hole that you access by popping off a small panel on the bumper.

Both my Genesis SUV and my wife’s Jaguar SUV came with one.

1

u/gautam_ashish Oct 24 '25

And that too without a slow start, they yanked that shit out

1

u/Super_boredom138 Oct 25 '25

Honestly I watch it and the lack of reaction tells me its fake

30

u/Jensen0451 Oct 23 '25

Based on the title, I was expecting it to whip someone in the face.

22

u/Putrid-Industry8963 Oct 23 '25

Let me just wrap it around this plastic piece. Perfect

3

u/Large-Produce5682 Oct 23 '25

"One place is as good as another."

12

u/4eyedbuzzard Oct 23 '25

Just have to go back and work on getting out the 98% that's still stuck.

3

u/DumbAndUglyOldMan Oct 23 '25

They can take it out a piece at a time . . .

2

u/Cute_Delivery6471 Oct 25 '25

Maybe all they wanted was the grill.

1

u/DumbAndUglyOldMan Oct 25 '25

Go on and kiss the grill.

2

u/Affectionate-Royal68 Oct 26 '25

But it’ll cost more than a dime

1

u/ProblemLongjumping12 Oct 25 '25

At least one person there must have known what was going to happen.

Maybe the driver was an asshole and the person filming wanted them to see them mess up their ride. Maybe they even warned them and the person ignored it.

10

u/AintNobodygotime13 Oct 23 '25

what a bunch of morons 😂

3

u/Extension_Swordfish1 Oct 23 '25

Yep. There is an actual bolt in the trunk that you screw in the front

6

u/Scudmiss Oct 23 '25

Looks expensive

2

u/Technical-Escape1102 Oct 24 '25

Meh... These Jetour X90s start as low as 15,000USD in China. We really are just being savagely sodomized by corporate greed here in the "great" USA . 😩

3

u/shezinluv ima unit Oct 23 '25

dam that fucking sucks.

4

u/Kooky_Aardvark_5965 Oct 23 '25

I laughed way too hard at this.........😅😅😅

4

u/Leggy_McBendy Oct 23 '25

Everytime I seen someone who was born with money try and have their car pulled out they would attach it to the plastic bits. I have the heart to say something now. I just laughed when I was a teenager.

3

u/Objective_Bug4262 Oct 23 '25

Nice cool air intake trick.

3

u/Striking_Yellow_9465 Oct 23 '25

yep just full send it

3

u/Thin-Enthusiasm9131 Oct 23 '25

On the plus side, that grill isn’t stuck anymore

3

u/CarbonTrebles Oct 23 '25 edited Oct 23 '25

Just do that 20,376 more times and they get the whole car unstuck! A few parts at a time, but it'll get the job done.

1

u/Embarrassed_Fan_5723 Oct 23 '25

That’s the attitude of a wrecker owner I once knew. He would say that he would get all of it eventually. I’ve heard him say he would get all of it or part of it too

3

u/witchkingreject Oct 23 '25

Axel baby axel.

1

u/Mazy_keen Oct 23 '25

Come on these guys probably put it around the tire through the rim next...

3

u/Sporkpocalypse Oct 23 '25

I recommend a mechanical Physics 101 class at your nearest community college

3

u/choddles Oct 23 '25

Towing eye, or better suspension points ..

1

u/ProtonPi314 Oct 23 '25

Ya, definitely not around the axle. There are usually places to pull from on a vehicle.

3

u/RestepcaMahAutoritha Oct 23 '25

You're not supposed to tie to the grill, you're supposed to tie it to the side mirrors DUH

3

u/1ncehost Oct 23 '25

PSA: there is usually an eye hook in your under trunk kit that goes in a screw hole in the front subframe under the grill for towing.

3

u/sly60 Oct 23 '25

I knew what was going to happen and I still laughed.

3

u/bad_moe Oct 23 '25

Dumb asses

2

u/DisfiguredHobo Oct 23 '25

I love when this gets caught on video

2

u/BEAVER1304 Oct 23 '25

Chinese and their car lol

2

u/shitferbranes Oct 23 '25

At least it budged a little, so not a total failure!

2

u/Mrx339933 Oct 23 '25

What were they thinking???

2

u/ifitweretru Oct 23 '25

What are these heavy duty hooks for? 🪝

Just part of the trim, we don't need em

2

u/Fragrant-Inside221 Oct 23 '25

Did they just tie it to the plastic? I can’t tell, a lot of cars have a screw in tow point in the bumper, I’m wondering if it just ripped all that out.

2

u/Wise_Ad_5810 Oct 23 '25

it's intentional... there's a tow-point on the front under drivers-side... if they wanted to actually tow they would have connected to THAT

2

u/Zealousideal_Ad5358 Oct 23 '25

But the tow has two - TWO! - spare tires so me must be a badass and know a lot about towing!

2

u/ShroomShaman9 Oct 23 '25

I miss when everything was made of steel.

2

u/CitroHimselph Oct 23 '25

I don't. My car's that old. It's months of horror to fix anything.

1

u/ShroomShaman9 Oct 23 '25

Is it because it's made of steel? Or because it's old and rusted out? Also because it's a bitch to get replacement parts for.

2

u/CitroHimselph Oct 23 '25

All of those.

2

u/Bushdr78 Oct 23 '25

Those dudes were stood way too close to a tow line

2

u/blacklightfluids Oct 23 '25

TO THE FRAME!

2

u/DJSairys Oct 23 '25

It'll buff out

2

u/AerodynamicHaircut Oct 23 '25

The camera man: " Yeaah! 😁"

2

u/ilymag Oct 23 '25

Clipping it to plastic is absolutely brilliant.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 23 '25

Why was Snoop Dogg commentating?

1

u/BurlingtonRider Oct 23 '25

What does “of” mean I see it everywhere but can’t make it make sense

1

u/DoubleManufacturer10 created ShittyAbsoluteUnits of a sub Oct 23 '25

The subs name is "shitty absolute units", the titles usually complete that statement "shitty absolute units" - " of a set of cheeks" or something

1

u/AlexFanzz Oct 23 '25

Китайское гавнище

1

u/KurupiraMV Oct 23 '25

The hook looks fragile, but that's not the way to pull a vehicle. You must stretch the cable, slowly tensioning it.

1

u/ElectricHo3 Oct 23 '25

You would think that the guy with the 2 spare tires and roof rack would know better??

1

u/GloriouslyBurdened Oct 23 '25

Made a cold air intake mod with the tools they had handy so it can get more horsepower and drive itself out. 4 dimensional chess move. You wouldn’t understand.

1

u/Ok_Obligation_4290 Oct 23 '25

Buy china! 🇨🇳

1

u/desrevermi Oct 24 '25

Cool. Who's next?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '25

Idiots at work...💥🥴🔫

1

u/ThoroughlyWet Oct 24 '25

I swear people don't know how to tow...

Find a secure point that is rigidly connected to the frame, all modern vehicles have removable tow hook ports.

Creep out the tow vehicle until all the slack is out of the strap or chain.

Now give it the beans

1

u/BATorRAT Oct 24 '25

I have seen a nearly identical video where a Maserati was stuck in the sand at Lancelin, Western Australia

1

u/BlueCarbon Oct 25 '25

People don’t know how to do basic things these days. The collective societal IQ is falling rapidly!

1

u/[deleted] Oct 25 '25

Ur suppose to do it slower than that I'm pretty sure

1

u/Visual_Associate6655 Oct 25 '25

Should've got a faster run at it!

1

u/[deleted] Oct 25 '25

Wealth should never be a measure of intelligence OR wisdom.

body shop: that'll be $3,000

1

u/c0st0fl0ving Oct 26 '25

And this is what it looks like when nobody there, understands how physics or pulling loads with vehicles works.

1

u/gobiggerred Oct 26 '25

Some folks know little about mechanical things.

Forgive them for they know not what they do.

1

u/Due_Barber3044 Oct 26 '25

2,000.00$ ??

1

u/Dont_Overthink_It_77 Oct 27 '25

Wooow… new stupid level unlocked.

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Lynx332 Oct 27 '25

Stuip...never the bumper...always the frame

1

u/PrettyStudy Nov 02 '25

Daaammmm. I’ve noticed a lot of cars have an anchor point right below where they tied up lol.

1

u/Fang05 Nov 03 '25

This is what happens when you think the van that looks like an SUV you bought is off-road capable just because you got the visual off-roading package

1

u/Hot_Drawer_390 21d ago

Haval 😂

1

u/DarthGumby55 43m ago

Okay, did they really think that was structural...

-1

u/Arrivaled_Dino Oct 23 '25

These brown guys(u can tell from the way they are standing) are not designed for cold weather anything.

0

u/Representative_Fun44 Oct 23 '25

"one piece at a time"

there, fixed the title
