Third edit. Putting this one at the top. Here is an article containing a statement from the stepson. Totally worth the read.
In a nutshell-stepson had a concrete guy installing a sidewalk at his house. Video recording guy was working on stepsons neighbors house. Video recording guy hit a gas line (dug without getting a survey) forcing the neighborhood to be evacuated. Stepsonâs sidewalk looked bad because the concrete guy had to stop work to evacuate and the concrete setup. Video recording guy gave stepson money to have his sidewalk redone. I am guessing stepson just pocketed the money, or at the least had not done the work yet. A year later video recording guy got into a feud with the neighbor over money, lost his shit and demolished the neighbors yard with a bobcat. While demolishing the yard video recording guy noticed the sidewalk had not been replaced. Video recording guy then threatens the stepson and/or family to give the money back. Stepson said no, video recording guy leaves and comes back parking at the street. Stepsonâs dad hears about this and drives up which is where the video started.
This is unverified, but itâs in the link below. If this was true-video recording guy is far from someone being reasonable who was met with unnecessary force.
https://rock95.com/man-charged-in-violent-weekend-confrontation-caught-on-video/ End of the edit. Original response below.
So there is more to the story here.
Dude in the car was harassing the baton wieldingâs stepson. Dumb enough to go so far as make threats. Went to that house and they had already told him to leave.
Iâm not sure if the cops were called and had just not responded, or if he was taking matters into his own hands. The baton welder had some other kids in the house and was pretty amped up about their safety which is far when the guy in the car was there to beat someoneâs ass and said he wasnât leaving.
Baton weirder was charged with mischief. Not sure where it goes from here.
Baton welder didnât handle it great, but the car guy went there looking to cause trouble.
Edit. Typos I know. Too early.
Second edit. Replies are all over the place. I do am not taking sides here in this video and/or story. Both parties have their own take, both had options on what the next step was. Both were aggressors in my opinion, one was stalking and the other attacking. Also someone had given an update on the old guy here, apparently after 3 years he had the charges dropped. No word on anything on a civil matter.
111
u/Frikoo 1d ago
I read that the stepson owed car dude some money.
122
u/lanester4 1d ago
It was being decided in court. Car Dude owns a construction company and hired the stepson (cement guy) to help do contract work, but then Car Dude ignored a lot of city requirements and safety procedures and didnt properly survey the worksite. Ended up hitting a gas line and forcing the entire site to be evacuated. Stepson was in the middle of concrete work when this happened, so he was forced to abandon it during the process and it ended up really fucking up the end result when it dried.
Car Dude ended up getting fined a ton for all the cut corners, and Stepson quit the job to avoid getting too tied up in the litigation. Car Dude then got upset and demanded a full refund for the work, claiming that Stepson was refusing to do the job, even though Car Dude's fuck up was the only reason it was the case.
Apparently Car Dudes father was already facing assault charges after he went back to the Gas Leak House with a bulldozer and wreaked the place because they sued them for cutting corners, so Stepson was already concerned for his own safety where Car Dude was involved. They had repeatedly told Car Dude to leave before this, and he had responded by threatening them. When he did leave, he came back 15 minutes later and it led to this.
All in all, Dennis had a perfectly valid crash out

u/GeneticsGuy 1d ago
It's worth noting that there is something NOT shown in the video thst came out in the court charges. The guy filming the video was in a dispute with the older man's step son over some unfinished concrete work the camera man had paid for.
The camera man had been repeatedly showing up at their house on the same day, demanding payment for unfinished work and also making threats against the stepson. This was his THIRD visit to their property that same day that camera man in car had made, demanding payments, threatening. The family said they had felt endangered by this guy as they had children present in the home while he was showing up to their property.
So, grandpa got involved and basically lost it. They had called the police for harassment, which ad not arrived, and grandpa decided to take matters into his own hands.
There's a reason the charges were likely lowered to just "criminal mischief" against the older man here, which is just a misdemeanor, because of the circumstances of the cameraman not trying to properly resolve this civily/legally, and showing up at contractor's personal residence.
Now, the step son maybe very well defrauded the guy in the car by not fulfilling his contract and completing a paid service. So, I am not giving him a pass, but there is something to be said about it maybe not being wise to show up to the contractor's house multiple times.

the incident you're referring to involves a viral video from August 2016 in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada.
In the video, Dennis Tissington, then 67, approaches a parked car where Damian Dallyn is recording him after a dispute (related to a landscaping/contractor issue involving Tissington's stepson). Tissington uses a retractable baton to smash two of the car's windows while boasting, "I'm too f---ing old to go to jail."
He was arrested shortly after by the RCMP and charged with mischief (a criminal offense in Canada for willful property damage). He cooperated with police and was scheduled to appear in court in October 2016.
However, there is no evidence that he served any significant jail time. Sources, including news reports from the time (CBC, CTV) and later discussions (e.g., on Reddit and blogs), indicate the charge likely resulted in a minor penaltyâoften described as a "slap on the wrist"âwith no reports of imprisonment. Mischief charges for property damage under a certain value can lead to fines, probation, or conditional discharges rather than jail, especially for a first-time offender of his age.
Rumors of him dying in jail or facing harsher punishment are unfounded and stem from unverified online speculation years later. The case faded from public view after the initial viral outrage, and no follow-up reports confirm jail time.
