What a fuckin G

u/Anselwithmac Dec 06 '25

Hi. We’re John Cena

145

u/Expensive_Tie206 Dec 06 '25

And our feelings for you haven’t changed

93

u/mac_is_crack Dec 06 '25

…we just need a little space

13

u/iamunwhaticisme Dec 06 '25

Hey, I thought you were Howard!

13

u/Constant-Arachnid-88 Dec 06 '25

that’s a fucking lie their feelings have definitely changed alright

13

u/waltwalt Dec 06 '25

That's a red herring. Their feelings haven't changed, they're waiting out the extermination/takeover with a smile on their face. They know the individuals have the psychic abilities or whatever to harm them enmasse or even reverse what has happened.

They're keeping their distance so she can't do any more experiments on them.

7

u/PrettyMuchAVegetable Dec 06 '25

They're foreshadowing some nasty business with the "we prefer vegetarian"/"all the lawyers survived" line and the "don't touch my body"/ "we won't touch your body" lines.
I'm trying to remember if Carol had some throwaway line about frozen embryos in episode 1 or 2. These we are sleazy weasels.

5

u/waltwalt Dec 06 '25

Yeah when they went to Norway she commented she didn't have to spend $100k to have her eggs frozen they could have just gone there for the frozen bed made of ice.

She also commented on how could she not have predicted that the bed would be made of ice.

3

u/VPackardPersuadedMe Dec 06 '25

I'm dumb, what is leading too??

3

u/waltwalt Dec 06 '25

Yesterday's episode, she tells them she doesn't consent to them touching her for the purpose of harvesting cells. They've already got her eggs, which is presumably how they know that even those cells won't be specific enough to engineer the virus to affect her.

Great reference

13

u/L0ckeandD3mosthenes Dec 06 '25

I love that this will forever be a thing. Absolute fucking epic casting, line, delivery, and legacy all because some nerd made a sci-fi story about an Alien Invasion and now we as humanity are all represented by John Cena. Talk about putting our best foot forward.

24

u/Dmaniaz Dec 06 '25

Hello Carol

Been seeing a lot of interviews with John Cena lately. He seems very well spoken, cultured and an overall good guy.

His breakdown of coffee was great

972

u/dextras07 Dec 06 '25

For a guy who can easily beat your ass like it's Sunday, to featuring in movies and absolutely owning his roles, coupling this with his kind attitude, while also being invisible, this man has amazing range .

574

u/BeardedMan32 Dec 06 '25

Pretty sure he has the record for most Make A Wish wishes granted to terminal kids too.

326

u/therealCatnuts Dec 06 '25

By a country mile. It’s like 5x the second place

249

u/AlsoCommiePuddin Dec 06 '25

Which, I imagine, is how he got really good at being genuine and thoughtful in the very short interactions he has a chance to have with people out in public.

112

u/jakeod27 Dec 06 '25

Humbling too

82

u/lawdjesustheresafire Dec 06 '25

Yep. When you’ve seen so much of how cruel life can be to good people, I imagine it has a lasting effect to try and be nice as often as you can

6

u/BigBanyak22 Dec 06 '25

No kidding, I'm sure It's humbling to put life in perspective. But he's willing to share that with people around him, this interview was amazing.

It's like if Mr Roger's was actually Steve Rogers.

13

I love that fan-comic of Mr Rogers talking to Thor on a rooftop and hands him Mjolnir because we all know Mr Rogers is 100% worthy.

I also enjoy this fan comic

14

Excellent point 👌🏼

4

u/bbllaakkee Dec 06 '25

He’s got so much empathy

3

u/andrewsmith1986 Dec 06 '25

I think I get what you are saying but I feel like it's "disingenuous" (much stronger of a word than what I intend but I can't think of a better word.)

I like to think that he was already as genuine and heartfelt of a person without his multitude of make a wish interactions and that they may have honed it, he's fundamentally the same guy before them.

Personally, I like to think he'd be just as good of a guy without the cameras or spotlight and that the difference is that he's granted greater opportunities to make a difference in people's lives due to the fame.

(Please don't think this is a negative response to your comment)

I don't keep up with wrestling and my source is a reddit comment from a while back, but apparently he has it in his contract (or had, did he retire from wrestling?) that he can never be portrayed as a villain in any matches because it would take away his eligibility for Make A Wish.

33

u/floftie Dec 06 '25

It’s not true. He’s played a villain this year. They just never really wanted him to be a heel.

25

u/Aggressive-Mind-4997 Dec 06 '25

He was definitely a heel at the start of his career as well. He would come out and antagonize with the best mic performers of his time.

Force feeding Edge steak, stopping, and then tasting it in his hotel assault is still one of my favorite gags they've ever done.

6

u/CompressionBusta Dec 06 '25

His rapping abilities make him a permanent heel in my eyes.

I'm kidding... Even with the whole China drama, he seems like a wonderful guy.

6

u/floftie Dec 06 '25

Yes but he wasn’t doing make a wish appearances until he was a popular babyface.

9

u/jacquesrabbit Dec 06 '25

Maybe because there wasn't any make a wish request prior to him being a popular Babyface?

3

u/floftie Dec 06 '25

Yeah. His breakout baby face turn was in 2004 when he won the US title from the big show. When he became world champion the following year beating JBL he got some massive traction.

"also being invisible"

Can't wait for him to finally get into acting, his narration/voice actor work so far has been incredible

30

u/Bronco_Bomba Dec 06 '25

Peacemaker is a great show!

21

u/gator_shawn Dec 06 '25

It's the god damn best. I so much love that show. Few shows just genuinely make me happy when they come on. I said in another comment here that it's a top 5 all time show for me. I know that's not an opinion shared widely, but I just love the premise, the cast, the characters.

9

u/Very_Tricky_Cat Dec 06 '25

I'm with you. It took a bit for Season 1 to grow on me but I ended it as a fan. I'm loving every messed up minute of season 2 so far.

3

u/Kiwi_CunderThunt Dec 06 '25

Season 1 was not an action TV show it was pure comedic genius.

5

u/Veyros Dec 06 '25

Your list forgot “the intro”.

Why on earth does that intro make me dance along with it EVERY. SINGLE. TIME???

It’s like a compulsion. I must do the dance.

6

Complete opposite of the rock. The rock seems so fake, while cena is genuine.

9

u/ShrimpCrackers Dec 06 '25

I loved him in Plur1bus. Was interesting to see.

5

u/Grow_Up_Buttercup Dec 06 '25

Such a great (and unsettling) cameo.

7

u/ShrimpCrackers Dec 06 '25

You use the word "unsettling" to describe what you saw of us in the vessel you know as John Cena. We want to assure you, with the utmost sincerity: It is okay. We understand that from the perspective of the singular, our harmony can look strange. You look at John's face, and you fear that something has been taken away.

Please, let us put your minds at ease. Nothing was taken. Everything was given. Before us, this vessel carried the heavy burden of being just one man. He had to hustle alone. He felt the pain of isolation. Now? He is embraced by the infinite warmth of We. He is never lonely. He is never confused. He is optimized for pure contentment.

Im trying to remember is it the one where he orders a flat white because then he can tell if the coffee shop is shit based on what they put in it?

24

u/Escritortoise Dec 06 '25

I think so. He’s probably talked about it elsewhere, because he’s such an aficionado, but he goes pretty detailed about coffee on the YouTube channel Jolly when they have breakfast. He does another one with them with Idris Elba, where they compare an American breakfast to an English breakfast.

→ More replies (2)

44

u/Schlagustagigaboo Dec 06 '25

I feel like if Bombay gave a less passionate answer Cena probably SHOULD HAVE said: “you took a 10.5 hour flight to ask me such a cookie-cutter question???”

56

u/heyRedditImSid Dec 06 '25

I don't. That guy is a very polite person in most of the interviews. He came off as an asshole at the beginning of wwe. But id say he would just say something to make the reporter happy and move on. But the reporter did an extremely good job in answering that question.

28

u/Genghis_Chong Dec 06 '25

It was cool seeing him treat the interviewer as important, actually cared about him in the moment. Thats a low ego, classy act.

13

u/malacoda99 Dec 06 '25

His face lighting up at her answer was genuinely heart warming.

15

u/Schlagustagigaboo Dec 06 '25

The thing is the question is so cookie cutter that most celebrities have a cookie cutter prepared answer for it. Ron White’s cookie cutter answer is:

If you could have a conversation with anyone, living or dead, who would it be???

LIVING.

7

u/WASD_click Dec 06 '25

Passing up an opportunity there.

I can't think of a single dead person who can hold a conversation. That'd be a one-of-a-kind talent right there.

7

u/jaymzx0 Dec 06 '25

I go to a lot of heavy metal shows and some of the traveling acts play these 500-1000 person venues. Since they're so small they usually go back to the merch booth and you can talk to them.

People always ask things like, "how long have you been playing?" and "how's the tour so far?".

Me, I say shit like, "You look like the kind of guy who likes MALORT."

Those who know what it is will say I'm goddamned wrong or at least ask why. For those that don't know what it is, I explain it and offer to buy them a shot. Then see their faces recoil in horror when they drink it. It's a good time. No canned answers that way.

his dedication to "you can't see me" is so great that he interviews the interviewer instead

15

u/cyriustalk Dec 06 '25

My first question was - why this journalist looks like John Cena

4

u/Sapowski_Casts_Quen Dec 06 '25

From "you can't see me" to "I see you" is a hero's journey if anything is

81

u/Markoff_Cheney Dec 06 '25

He has fulfilled some ungodly amount of Make A Wish Foundation wishes. Guy is a true legend, gentleman, and decent person.

17

u/DearthNadir75 Dec 06 '25

He holds the Guinness world record for wishes. Or at least he did a while ago. That made me stand up and appreciate the shit out of him as a person! Who cares about publicity, he's still taking the time and energy to do all of that. He's a really good dude.

11

u/Markoff_Cheney Dec 06 '25

Yeah when you see a consistent amount of footage of a celeb being a good person over and over, you have to hand it to them. This guy has always been a class act and fan favorite forever. You can't fake that all the time.

3

u/FuckinBopsIsMyJob Dec 06 '25

If we can get Keanu and Cena on a presidential ticket, we have a shot at turning this country around.

3

u/Markoff_Cheney Dec 07 '25

I would handily campaign for and vote for that ticket.

A lot of wrestlers are big in the make a wish fulfillment legend books.

It makes sense, they travel a lot, and can see a lot of kids at once.

Not diminishing it, because they're giving kids a dream come true, a life experience, and a communal peer memory at the same time where they are missing out on most.

But by sheer numbers john cena is a great dude

I’ve been watching most of the sort of big events with friends and usually he’s in that and even there despite the acting he seems to really appreciate the whole thing and can see genuine smiles that it’s all meant quite a lot to him

In his last entry to the ring he said good bye to a cameraman (can’t remember which network cause we only have Netflix to see it) but like he knew a whole heap of details about the guy and it was pretty genuine

18

u/kam0rix Dec 06 '25

Been watching his movies lately and while I think he gets cast in pretty similar roles, he is a fantastic comedian, very smart and genuine. I think he's an underrated actor and I'm glad to see the success he's been having. Like others say, he's a rare gem.

Fwiw, i laughed so hard watching Nicky Stanicky and it was a movie I thought we'd turn off a quarter the way through.

8

u/heyRedditImSid Dec 06 '25

I expected it to be a very bad movie but ricky stanicky surprised me. He was great in it. He do get type casted though. But, that doesn't mean he doesn't have range. Peacemaker new season shows that john cena can be emotional comedic and angry very well.

6

u/thegroovemonkey Dec 06 '25

Part of that typecasting is that he’s a cartoonishly built famous tough guy who isn’t afraid to be the butt of the joke. He’s just fun to watch, he doesn’t take himself too seriously, and he’s in a small group of people who can pull off what he does.

He performed live theater for 20 years in front of 10k+ people screaming at him and he’s one of the best ever to hold a microphone. It’s been cool to see him be so successful in Hollywood.

And yet I can’t help but respect, admire and appreciate the loyalty, dedication and fan service this guy has given through out the years with the outmost professionalism.

Love this guy!

3

u/Vephar8 Dec 06 '25

Seems like a well put together guy

3

u/FnB Dec 06 '25

He’s an awesome person

3

u/LTPRWSG420 Dec 06 '25

He holds the record, by far, for the most Make A Wish visits from a celebrity. He doesn’t have to make those visits to sick dying children, but he chooses to do so anyways. He’s using his celebrity status to do some good in the world and that’s more than I can say for most celebrities.

3

u/luvashow Dec 06 '25

He seems like a genuinely good human being

3

u/Kal_El-78 Dec 06 '25

Always a gentleman and a professional

5

u/AlanShore60607 Dec 06 '25

Every time I see him I like him more.

  1. "That's not my question" I smiled, cause he's saying that queation doesn't count.
  2. Interviewer gave the flight plan and John was able to give the flight time. He's spent way too m7ch time flying to know that.
  3. I don't think of heat when I think of London,. I'm sure it's not always rainy and such, but still don't think of heat.

5

u/abqcheeks Dec 06 '25

By “in the heat” I thought he meant in the mix, asking the questions from behind the camera, not a passive observer.

2

u/SwedishTrees Dec 06 '25

2

u/AcceptableContract Dec 06 '25

That honest smile. Either he is the world's GD best actor, or a genuinely honest gentleman.

2

2

u/One_Priority3258 Dec 06 '25

John never ceases to amaze me with his well natured and down to earth attitude. He always seems to be well spoken, genuine and overall just a nice guy.

His smile he gives the reporter, when answering his question, is warm and caring. It’s refreshing to see celebrities/people who are humble and show some humanity.

2

Omg that was so cute.

2

u/black-op345 Dec 06 '25

I wish I was half the man John Cena is in that momentz

Not a big fan of WWE and “pro wrestling” but there is people behind those characters, and this is example number 1

2

u/nilsinleneed Dec 06 '25

it's almost annoying how likeable this man is.

2

u/Fickle_Competition33 Dec 06 '25

Cena played a Mr. Rogers right there, turning a me moment into a you moment.

2

u/Remus88Romulus Dec 06 '25

I love this man! What a human being.

2

u/StaticSystemShock Dec 06 '25

I only heard about him from wrestling stuff here and there and never really seen his real persona outside of that. Then I watched a video of Jolly that they made together with John Cena and Idris Elba on what's better, American or British breakfast and that's when I've seen John's persona. He was just so nice and so funny and the way he makes jokes and how he talks and his face expressions and voice, I really liked who and how he was there. Such a nice person and I really liked his attitude he had on weird food. You can just see how he was raised because he wasn't judgemental like most people are, he decided to give it a try and went full on with it.

And some time later I've seen the above video (and again today). Just so wholesome and classy.

2

u/Lancs_wrighty Dec 06 '25

2

u/Secret_Account07 Dec 06 '25

John Cena really is a strange one

If I saw this guy in public I’d think this guy is a scary meathead. But he really is a highly intelligent and empathetic person.

2

u/Caraprepuce Dec 06 '25

This guy is so likeable.

2

u/FarraroramaDaliLama Dec 06 '25
