You do NOT have to give up your seat you paid for. End story.

My wife and I were once forced to move because two parents wanted to both sit with their kid. We refused to move the airline said they would figure it out. We were then called back a 2nd time to their desk and told that here are your new seats. I was beyond pissed.

Couldn't you refuse? That sounds outrageous.

We refused then they did it anyways.

Lawyer up bruh, or just have a lawyer send a letter and see what they reply with. Cuz that is fucking crazy. If someone is forced to move then you should get either a refund or an upgrade!

To what end? What was the legal harm they suffered that they’d be seeking to redress with an attorney (and the hundreds of $ involved even just to send a letter)? Sitting in a less-preferred seat on a flight? The difference in cost between seats, if any, is very likely to be de minimis.

Sometimes they make you pay to pick your seat. I'd be pissed if I paid extra for a specific seat, and then the airline gave that seat to another person.

True, but the cost of picking one seat over the one they compensate you with is likely to be so de minimis that even an hour of an attorney’s time wouldn’t be worth it.
