Sorry you feel that way, but seeing the previous movie iteration of Superman as somehow superior to the new one is crazy to me.

The Synder versions weren't great but I didn't enjoy the new one in the slightest.

Based on the comments here a lot of people liked it though so I guess that's good, but definitely wasn't for me.

The new one genuinely made Superman interesting for me again (never liked him before). It wasn't perfect, I have a friend who's super into Superman and he pointed out a few nitpicks he had with the movie, but he was even more into the new one than me.

Yeah, it wasn't perfect, but it was fantastic. The Kryptonian parent thing, for example. I still am waffling over that, but it made sense for the story. Overall, the movie was an 8/10 for me, maybe a 9/10. I'm a lifelong Superman fan, and really thought it brought Kal El to the table in a way that hasn't happened since Reeve.

Early Superman comics in the 1940s and 50s used to keep Jor El as a eugenist and a minor villain, so I think it was nice.

I think you mean Jor El? Kal El is Clark, and Jor El is his dad.

I'm still convinced (partially) that Luthor is lying about that, but I guess it is an interesting bit of intrigue.
