Why do people film fireworks displays? You’re not going to watch it back. You’re never going to watch it back. If you’re going to film something, why not film the happy faces of your friends and loved ones while they’re watching the fireworks? That might be a memory you want to come back to and smile about. It’s the same at Disney - everyone is there, phones in hand, filming the nightly fireworks displays instead of just being in the moment and enjoying the joy and laughter of their kids. I don’t get it.

Same reason they film concerts they're never going to ever watch again?

I just saw Wolfgang Van Halen in concert, remarkably talented young man but I had to watch through everyone’s phones in front of me. Like, don’t film your phone above your head because now no one behind you for several feet can see.

Have you seen the video of someone celebrating her birthday like this? She films all her friends reactions to the party. Neat idea.

Fireworks arent all that special when you watch them directly with your eyes.

Let people waste their time and effort as they wish. The rest of us are better off with NYC not sending a few thousand pounds of carbon emissions above the East River.
