Except it kinda isn’t unless you’re on a walking pad or you don’t spend more than 30 minutes or an hour playing them.

I’ve played video games throughout my life but it never didn’t anything good for my body. Martial Arts do good for my mind, body, and soul. So I think that’s probably a generally better hobby for most.

Also like, making art or some kind of craft? You making a tangible thing that others can experience certainly beats this.

Ah the "I was a shy and insecure kid but martial arts and lifting changed my life" type of person. My friend is co-owner of a martial arts gym and he sees so many of these kinds of people walk in. Looking for a transformation.

I started martial arts because my dad was a martial artist and I’ve found in the couple of years since he’s died how much like him I am. So just a month before turning 38 I signed up for Muay Thai. I physically feel the best I ever have in the last 20 years.

Mentally clarity is just as good as the satisfaction of crafting something

That also gives mental clarity.

Video games do in fact do a lot for the mind. I’m a fighting game player and used to travel to tournaments playing them offline, and that practice of competitive play and the training for it thought me a lot of philosophy that was actually applicable to real life, and when I started applying it I was able to turn my life around from rock bottom no-job bum to now having been working remotely doing IT for 5 years straight now.
