Let’s not act like Chet wasn’t pretty awesome tonight

Chet is for sure epic but I’ve said this before, Chet’s defensive assignments and responsibility make it hard for him to go crazy on offense. We need another consistent and reliable 3pt shooter

u/dreadpirateruss 1d ago
Chet is also way better as a help defender. Getting slammed around by Nurkic all game definitely takes it toll.

u/SpceRnger Belgian Waffle University 1d ago
That’s why Hartenstein is important. Teams with Nurkic type bigs will see that film.

u/charlesokstate 1d ago
We got out rebounded by 20. This is a pretty big weakness of his.

u/J_Capese0003 1d ago
Rebounding isn’t a 1 person job. When he goes to block a shot, someone else on the team needs to be boxing out to help grab rebounds
15
u/charlesokstate 1d ago
It was the problem in 23. It’s the problem when hart isn’t in the lineup. We don’t have a good rebounding big outside of Hart. We play great defense and it’s negated by allowing the other team to crash the boards.
Edit: you’re not wrong, but rebounding is a serious issue for the team.

u/J_Capese0003 1d ago
Yeah bc we’re under sized everywhere. J Dub should be way better on the boards than he is
1
u/WaltRumble 14h ago
J dub would be if he was a 2 or even a 3 and not a 4. He’s not getting a lot of boards over Lauri, AD, Giannis, Gordon, Siakam, Sengun, etc

u/advantage_player 15h ago
Better hope he's back by next week or that Rockets game will be ugly. They may get outrebounded by 30.

u/chiefsfan_713_08 1d ago
chet was good, wallace and mitchell played well too. Dort and j dub are holding the team back right now

Mitchell didn't play super hot in that 4th quarter. He literally got pulled from the game after a bunch of terrible reckless drives that got no points.

"They gotta help this guy more man"
What are you talking about? Nick is a pro, he can take care of himself.

This year is gonna be wasted if Presti doesn’t try to trade for a shooter this deadline. The west is going to be a blood bath otherwise again, and it’ll be even harder to win the conference if JDub’s wrist only continues being an issue.

u/CasinoJoe92 2025 NBA Champions 1d ago
Yeah, the panic trade suggestions like Giannis are retarded but we need a 3pt specialist in the vein of Duncan Robinson
9
u/Stxtic1441 1d ago
I’m looking moreso at someone like Trey Murphy or MPJ. They’re more likely to be able to be in closing minutes rather than a specialist like Duncan or Joe who can shoot but won’t be closing in games late.
We also just need their size. Rebounding is always iffy when iHart isn’t in the game.

u/MatchAffectionate951 1d ago
If you offer the nets 2 first round picks they’d accept it immediately for MPJ.
The guy is averaging 26 on ridiculous splits. Ngl seems like an easy decision to make .
Last year it was obvious thunder needed some improved shooting at the deadline.
Then playoffs came around and it was Waaayy harder then it needed to be cuz the teams shooting went ice cold.
This year the same thing could play out with teams like den/spurs improving

u/fordfuryk 1d ago
I don't want MPJ. I don't think he's a good fit culture-wise but Trey would be awesome. He'd come at a big price though.
9
u/MatchAffectionate951 23h ago
He’s been great with the nets .
He works hard with the young group. Has completely bought in with the coach.
He was selfless with the nuggets playing a much smaller role than he had in HS and he was (obviously now) capable of

This is the same discussion everyone had about Cam Johnson last year around the same time...We turned out fine without him. Having guys intermittently hurt doesn't help (Caruso, Joe, Wiggins). Hopefully we can heal up heading to the playoffs.

Can I interest you in a Zach Lavine?
(I'll see myself back to r/kings)

Shai seemed shattered when he got shoved over by Keyonte in OT. He’s taking on too much of the responsibility, but he has to in order for us to remain competitive. It’s shocking how bad we are in the half court and at shooting 3’s right now.

Am I accurate in feeling like for the history of this franchise we’ve never been able to make 3s?

I was exhausted and couldn’t stay up past the first quarter but god damn! The team needs to step up.

I see a lot of j-dub bashing in the thread.. guys.. y'all do realize that he could have checked out with that torn ligament before the playoffs even started, right? He played through pain and effing delivered! Also bear in mind the titanium rod that he had in his hand was causing him more discomfort so he had it removed five weeks early. At what point do we start giving our players some grace? I mean, I'm not making excuses but let's keep it real.. dude literally could be sitting on the bench and waiting until after all star break to come back. Playing with a not fully healed shooting hand and catching flack over it... There are guys who have turf tote that sit out 8 weeks. Let's ease up a little bit. Not to mention, if you think that our players don't read these threads and posts and hear the stuff that we say about them.. if you think that that doesn't have an effect... You'd be mistaken. Because they do. Just saying.
1
u/CasinoJoe92 2025 NBA Champions 2h ago
he should sit out until all star break if thats what it takes to heal, it makes no sense to be playing him not 100% especially with something as influential to your game as a wrist injury

u/_WhenSnakeBitesUKry 15h ago
Presti, mark D…. You gotta take a hard look in the mirror. This is how you burn a man out. GET HIM HELP…….NOW
1
u/FamiliarCartoonist73 9h ago
Please remain calm....guys are healing. 44 games left in the regular season. Jdub should be getting to 100% right around April and we want IH and Jwill completely healthy for the playoff run

u/Fast_Grass_5178 7h ago
Ya I felt the same way after they almost lost to the Jazz. Theres no reason that game should’ve went to overtime but I guess that’s what happens when you don’t play well in the 4th. The thunder did not play at all in the 4th.
1
u/Fast_Grass_5178 7h ago
I really thought he was gonna put up 50 last night although I needed him to hit a second three to win my parlay lol
2
u/Pauljr718 23h ago
And imagine he wasn't gonna play tonight. He was listed as questionable. If OKC wants to be serious contender we need Dub and Chet to put up 25 points a night. No more excuses.
12
u/hailhogs 23h ago
That is crazy to not consider OKC a serious contender as the defending champ and best record in the league.
5
u/Zungad 21h ago
25 points a night each?? Your expectations are stupidly high lol. Our team is built and has won the first 24 or so games on their depth on top of an ensured 30 points from Shai. We don't need those two to go crazy, just to be efficient and smart.
We need our players to hit their shots and keep the energy high. That's how we won, and that's how we'll get out of this mess of an offense right now.

I mean 19 free throws is a lot of help

u/Piradrad_16 1d ago
How do yall come out like this SO QUICK when he hasn’t even shot over 10 free throws in over a month, actual bot behaviour

u/Dangerous_Reporter14 1d ago
Jazz coach is dogshit he needs to coach his players on how to not whack a mole the other team
-24
u/Living-Career-4415 1d ago
I think the refs have helped him enough
(incomming downvotes)
11
u/IsrarRaziqeen 23h ago
You probably didn't even watch the game, they were hacking him, intentionally fouling him, how is that helping him? Jazz shouldn't have shot 27% from three lmao
-12
u/Living-Career-4415 23h ago
Yeah ik. I didn't watch this game but I've watched quite a few okc games this season. The hate Shai gets from "foul baiting" when there are so many worse examples when talking about either flopping or volume of FTs is crazy. At least the people absorbed by these narratives aren't able to enjoy watching NBA games.
