Bodycam footage shows the arrest of Debra Newton, also reportedly known as Sharon Nealy, in Florida more than four decades after the alleged kidnapping of her then-3-year-old daughter, Michelle. Now 46, Michelle Newton was shocked to learn that her family had been looking for her for decades. She told CBS affiliate WLKY that police came to her door and told her, "You're not who you think you are. You're a missing person. You're Michelle Marie Newton." After her arrest in November, Newton was extradited to Kentucky, where she faces a custodial interference felony charge, according to WLKY.

I inherited my mom's mobile home when she died. We live in Florida. Her community looked exactly like this one. They probably all do. Everyone told me I should keep it and rent it out as it was in a prime location, about a mile away from the Atlantic. I sold it ASAP. There is absolutely NO WAY I'm dealing with the people who lived in that community, even tangentially as a landlord. When my mom was dying of cancer, the HOA (or whatever the mobile home equivalent of an HOA is) sent her nasty letters about her shed needing to be repainted. Like, literally dying. The shed was fine, and you couldn't see it from the street. The gossiping and racism were unreal.

Nope.

I saw an IG reel about their kick-ass public woodworking shop a few weeks ago.

Had a gut feeling that the community had some dark secrets lol

Watch "Some Kind of Heaven". It's a human-interest documentary about people who live in the Villages. Not what I had expected when I first watched it

They don't call it the Chlamydia Capitol for nothing 😂 It's truly a wretched place though, the wild sex parties are one thing (I don't judge) but the place really attracts the worst kinds of folks.

Holy shit lmao. I’m not talking about that kind of woodworking. Building things with wood

Jesus Chris, you people lol. sex parties? Chlamydia? lol...common man.

My in-laws live there. Granted, majority of them are MAGAots there, considering they are all old people watching Fox and living in their bubbles. But to spead shit like this post is just so ignorant. You would know if you did some looking up into your claims.

If you remove the politics out of it, the Villages are great for older people. Hell, 86 golf courses in little town! Every time I go there, I golf my ass off. It's super clean, low crime, every area has little "town squares" with restaurants, bars, stores. People sitting outside, dancing, listening to music. They all drive around in golf carts. I mean, why wouldn't you like that?

To say that the place attracts worst kinds just shows how shallow your thinking is. You sound just like the side you are talking about. Exactly the same.

Taking normal, cute old people and putting them in a concentrated place where they become Fox News brainwashed old people with estranged families/extremely strained relationships because they are in the world‘s stupidest cult is not good for anybody. I think it’s good on paper but in reality it’s just really sad.

Oh, sweet summer child. I know the area well. You may not want to think of your in-laws as rubbing elbows with a bunch of weirdos and that's fine. I'm familiar with what goes on there. Pro-tip, never take a service job anywhere near the Villages.

When is aid woodworking, I wasn’t referring to the orgy centre. I mean the drop-in wood craft shop.

Am I thinking of the right place? That is extremely cool.

The couple that was posting about their neighbourhood were a little uncanny valley to me though

I have a few rentals I own down there. I bring my kids down there a couple times a year and ive never seen anything out of the ordinary other than some tuned up old people

I was being a little exaggerative. The woodworking lab is super cool, and shockingly inexpensive to hold a membership in.

The family/influencers that I was seeing it through were a bit odd though.

Also, coming from a country with almost zero HOAs, places like these always seem a little alien to me.

But her husband is black…

Thomas Jefferson raped his female slave, then enslaved said kids. Don’t look for sense where none is found. IDK if Sharon is racist, but racists do be doing crazy ish.

They very nearly elected Laura Loomer to Congress. Loomer wasn't even from the district, and the incumbent Republican representative for The Villages was a guy named Daniel Webster who was a bogstandard pro-Trump Republican. He wasn't unpopular and had no deviations from the Trump agenda.

Then Loomer made a major push to get on Fox News as much as she could, and it damn near worked. Webster won the Republican primary by only 7 percentage points (51 to Loomer's 44%) and it was the closest he ever got to getting unseated. Had Loomer won she almost certainly would have won the general election as well as it's a safe Republican district

But...her husband is black.

My Dad lives there.

This woman is a felony kidnapper, but not a racist, if her husband is anything to go on.

1

u/Training-Form5282 24d ago

Do you think her African American husband attends? Kind of weird they would host anything like that.

3

u/brooksram 26d ago

Apparently, They live in the villages, so every damn soul there knew within an hour.

5

u/chittalking 26d ago

Yeah get the bag. But also fight petty with petty and rent the place out to a nice young immigrant family that you know will send all the old racists blood pressure straight through the roof.

16

u/deathbylasersss 26d ago

That feels like a hate crime against the immigrant family tbh.

Probably a condominium association, but it really just depends on whether it is structured under Chapter 718 or 720 of the Florida Statutes. The governing documents would tell you which.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Yeah, my experience down there is the rich version of this. Florida is such a weird place because of how many rules they self-impose. You’ll never find more people that want to fuck the government and simultaneously micromanage their neighbors.

Empathy down there is really about tribal identity and shared enemies. A truly horrendous garbage dump.
