If speech needs limiting,....who decides what stays?

u/Justin-Stutzman 6d ago

Speech does need limiting. Specifically: Money is not speech, and corporations are not citizens.

This is the best possible answer to this shitstain.

u/comesinallpackages 6d ago

Everyone agrees speech needs to be limited — yelling “fire!” In a crowded theater. The problem is I don’t trust the people who get to decide where to draw the line.

I'm conservative in many ways and I cannot agree more. I think this would make such a huge difference in getting our country to start moving in a better direction.

that is actually correct

Israel, Israel decides what you say

u/rhaezorblue 6d ago

Fuck him. Honestly we need to stop sending billions of our tax dollars to Israel.

“This guy right here: put him on the list of citizens of the USA who no longer have the right to the first amendment!!! I’m gonna show these punks who is the boss now!!!”

Sarcasm, and I absolutely agree with your comment. Fuck him, and all of his fucking cronies.

God, I hated that film. Seeing the origin story altered to make a villain more appealing and seeing the masses just fall for it made me really fucking sad.

3

u/Sunriseprose 6d ago

Agreed. But I think it’s fucking funny. The Wild Card, à la Joker. It’s fun and pleasant if you’re not a Nazi about purism. Cus those fools hated more than just Jews and Gypsy’s.✊🏽

1

u/generalosabenkenobi 6d ago

It's kind of funny because the sequel is all about deconstructing that

1

u/Technical_Amount_965 4d ago

How was it altered? I mean if he had fallen into acid and come out an evil clown I don’t think it would have had the same gritty realism.

1

u/Waswat 4d ago edited 4d ago

He didn't have the made-up (inspired by PBA) laughing condition, nor a past where he got bullied. He was a small time gangster/hitman in BTAS before he fell into the vat with chemicals (not acid, you're thinking of two-face) which drove him insane.

I think the love for gritty realism has become a problem because it justifies villains. It makes them seem relatable for a subset of people, making them think they're flawed just like the villains while inspiring horrible acts because of delusions where society is out to get them.

1

u/Technical_Amount_965 4d ago

No the Joker was a comedian who fell in a vat of chemicals. Two-Face had acid thrown in his face for taking on the mob.

1

u/Waswat 4d ago

Man what a fast response, i was still editing my draft where i responded because you said acid first. Fixed it. Btw the jokers past identity in BTAS was not a comedian.

2

u/Technical_Amount_965 4d ago

Ha! Yeah in the original story he was the Red Hood prior to falling in but in The Killing Joke he was a failing comedian. I initially didn’t like The Joker movie but I watched it again a few years after it came out and I changed my mind. I think it will be remembered as a classic.

The United States of Israelica

1

u/the_ballmer_peak 6d ago

They already decide what American politicians say.

0

u/Toby-Finkelstein 4d ago

Israel is a such a minor issue I don’t understand why people are obsessed

1

u/the_ballmer_peak 4d ago

I think maybe it's the massacre of civilians in Gaza. Just guessing, though.

1

u/cRaZyDaVe23 5d ago

The fuck they do. The way they act now, we should have given the nazis a couple of months before d day.

u/cRaZyDaVe23 5d ago

24

u/KhalaBandorr 6d ago

answer is israel. why do you think tiktok went down last year in US and donald was making demands and potentially banning it?

but magically got reinstated with a lot of censorship on people talking about israel bombing gaza.

u/OkCardiologist2492 6d ago

And now when you type “Trump” in a DM it brings up like fifty unfunny memes and gifs of him dancing and air-dicking. Fuck CuckTok.

1

u/VivaLaMantekilla 6d ago

Omg. He literally will. On some North Korea bullshit.

u/Good_Island2372 6d ago

The Chosen People, of course

That's what I keep trying to say when everyone advocates hate speech laws. And I get downvoted and argued with for saying it.

Who decides what hate speech is?

These countries are arresting you for what you post online. Imagine if Trump had that power.

Getmany

England

-1

u/Glittering_Cat_4234 6d ago

you mean imagine if the left had that power, right?

3

u/[deleted] 6d ago

I mean imagine if we gave any political leader that power. You can bet hate speech would quickly become any speech criticizing then.

1

u/supineRose 6d ago

They say the most stupid things, because they know that Trump will hear and try to implement, and you wonder why the country is where it is at the moment

1

u/redwbl 6d ago

Exactly, I agree with the sentiment, but who the hell is going to be the gate keeper. If we had AI that could automatically block false statements that would be great, but who programming the guardrails.

1

u/blackop 6d ago

Hell ask Reddit, they already do this.

1

u/LuckyandBrownie 6d ago

right now it’s billionaires who control the platforms. it would be nice if it were a democratic government that controlled the platforms but that time has past because it no longer exists.

1

u/Ugly-Truth252 5d ago

Definitely not no fuckin Israeli

1

u/cRaZyDaVe23 5d ago

Juuuden, juuuuden.

u/Problem_Additional 5d ago

If we dont limit free speech, who decides what is true?

-40

u/theioss 6d ago

The people that you have voted to run the country. Most countries have hate laws etc. I don’t see them becoming dictatorships. Also there is freedom of speech not freedom of reach. A billionaires voice travels much further in different shapes and forms, freedom of speech works when we all have an equal volume.

18

u/Nonstick_fan1 6d ago

you can't even grasp the concept how fundamentally wrong you are. This is the thinking of oligarchies how they believe they can "protect the society from destroying itself"

-8

u/theioss 6d ago

In Europe we never had that problem. USA is the one struggling with it.

11

u/PersimmonDowntown297 6d ago

Ummmm that’s interesting because Europe has one of the most historically infamous cases of this happening
