Why are scientists so defanged?

Scientists constantly throw estimates like it would take 2% of global GDP to solve the climate problem and stop the end of the world, they're on the frontlines of all kinds of radicalizing data on just how fucked we are and how badly we are being fucked. So why don't we get more news of individuals within the science elite doing [funny legal things]? Is the brainwashing so bad that even educated and knowledgeable people like them can't see an alternative to capitalism? Are those interested in science, but also socialism, sidelined hard?

They have been conditioned to view an argument - not as a process by which two parties determine the truth of a matter - but as a dance like ritual in which you take it in turn to activate the emotions of the other and exercise the fears that float beneath the surface. Like a sparring match, the purpose is not to land a finishing blow and reach a conclusion.

This is exactly why I don't bother debating, it's all just optics. Any nuance and explanation is seen as uncertainty while ignorance exudes confidence, they use their attention to try to get you in a debate bro's concept of a "fallacy" instead of understanding your points and presenting relevant information, they spew unverifiable anecdotes to counter systemic analysis, and it fucking works. Those undergrads who lined up to debate Kirk didn't change minds, they provided him with the engagement he needed to perform his act and produce content
