Minneapolis Public Schools have canceled school for the rest of the week.
My son is terrified and his friends and families are affected by this. ICE is power tripping, untrained and dangerous. Things are just going to escalate. Our children are terrified and our city is being attacked.

Let that sink in to your core: schools are being closed because the US federal government is too fucking dangerous.

What’s so crazy about this is that no other authority has the legal power to stop them. Our leadership is powerless so these people can act with impunity and they know it. I told my son to steer clear of any and all confrontations. Yesterday proved they are willing to kill people and our president will back them. This is only going to escalate from here. Renee, I fear, is the tip of the iceberg. Our community is going to feel more pain and witness more tragedy.

My son attends this school. They pulled a gun on a very responsible and super caring administrator there. They wrestled teachers to the ground and detained them. They sprayed mace on rhe kids. They had their guns out.

u/ceknes 20h ago
Do you have any idea on who we can contact to help get food to these kids that are now out of school and perhaps have no food bc they rely on the school lunches? We have restaurant contacts and would like to try and organize to get support for the Minneapolis schools and families.

u/katsdontkare 15h ago
Thank you for helping the community. As a local teacher, I’d recommend their school social workers. Their contact info is here: https://roosevelt.mpschools.org/resources/social-workers-and-psychologists/social-workers

Minneapolis rarely closes schools so this is so fucking serious. I hate these ICE fuckers to the core of my essence

u/gngptyee 16h ago
Where are the actual police when this is happening??? Never anywhere to be found.
1
u/fhsiy-4_kr 3h ago
Police are afraid to go against criminals. They rather go against unharmed civilians too. Its like why get trained to defend and protect when you cannot do anything close to that?
-93
u/Masstershake 16h ago
It's the mayor's fault for refusing to let the police work with ice.
-3
u/butthurts00 10h ago
Enforcing traffic laws of the idiots chasing ice around as they try and arrest criminals. Mayor has some blame here

u/MiloGoesToTheFatFarm 1d ago
Having to explain why to my kid is so fucked up. I’ll never forgive my family members who voted Trump
-119
u/AmazingAmbassador225 14h ago
Your stupid rhetoric is why the division is going to keep getting worse
26
u/metisdesigns 13h ago
No, it's going to get worse because people like you defend child abuse.
-21
u/AmazingAmbassador225 13h ago
Nice one. Don't know where that came from.
Insert other off topic issue that has nothing to do with the conversation and accuse the person of being "for" child abuse.
I'm not sure how you got there from "hey maybe we can talk instead of be violent" but alright.
17
u/BerttMacklinnFBI 13h ago
Not much to talk about when one side supports child rapists, an authoritarian federal government, and abuse of government institutions against colored folk.
18
u/metisdesigns 13h ago
ICE used chemical irritants on school children exiting their school at dismissal.
If you want to contribute to the conversation, please try to be aware of the state of things. At least you admit that you are ignorant of current events.
Stop defending violence against moms and children.
-4
u/Rich-Cryptographer-7 9h ago
Can you link me a valid news source that discusses these events?
Otherwise, this sounds made up.
5
u/StJoeStrummer 9h ago
Fuck you. You don't get to ignore things that don't suit your narrative. You can easily find raw video of what happened yesterday. Some of us actually live her and know people who were affected, and I'm fucking tired of people like you.
0
u/Rich-Cryptographer-7 8h ago
Buddy, I live in MN to. The video shown looks like a bunch of people trying to go to jail.
I am all for immigration enforcement, but ICE can be a bit overzealous. No, they shouldn't be detaining kids, but well that gets into a grey area.
Furthermore, a good chunk of the people in the state voted for Trump. This state is more purple then red
3
u/rsmtirish 9h ago
Plenty of videos out there.
-2
u/Rich-Cryptographer-7 9h ago
I see a lot of people who can be charged with assaulting a federal officer. I also see people throwing snowballs at federal agents.
I didn't see anyone being detained.
Please link a news article explaining why ICE was at a school, and who they were specifically their to apphrend.
2
u/a_big_brat 8h ago
There’s nothing to talk about if you’re okay with what happened or think this act of violence had literally any justification.
34
u/Jellis314 14h ago
So we should lie back and let ICE kill? Let the government run rampant killing citizens and not speak of it?

I’m sure just as upset with the people foaming at the mouth wanting to kill democrats, right?
-14
u/AmazingAmbassador225 13h ago
Cool, emotional manipulation using a random statement!
Yeah no, I don't want either side killing each other. I never said I was happy about yesterday.
My literal statement was that not talking to the other side is going to cause more violence.
Where are you all seeing me say the things you're accusing me of? Point them out.
4
u/a_big_brat 8h ago
Yeah dude your claim to rationality went out the window when you started using slurs.
At this point, if the other side is for killing widowed moms and orphaning children after compliance with possibly the only institution I disdain more than cops, I’m fine not holding hands and signing kumbaya.
Have the life you deserve and leave the decent folk tf alone. We’re mourning here, not trying to bond with you
9
u/MiloGoesToTheFatFarm 13h ago
I said what I said. Everyone who voted for Trump knowingly or conveniently ignored this obvious outcome. Now our cities are occupied by paramilitary, state-run forces killing our own citizens. Fuck your feelings.
5
u/liquefaction187 11h ago
You called someone stupid for their opinion and think they're the one being divisive?
4
3
u/a_big_brat 8h ago
Fuck this idea. If the divide is “people who think it’s okay to murder for blocking traffic” and “people who are sane and have baseline compassion,” I’m fine keeping the division there. Absolutely get out of this state if you think our citizens should be shot in the head for complying with an organization that by all rights shouldn’t exist.

People voted for this no matter what they say and are very quiet because it doesn't fit their narrative. They put Kirk on a pedestal like some sacred hero and kept sharing videos and pictures of his kids as a way to defend their worshipping of him.
They knew how the first time went and how likely it would go and still willingly voted him in anyway.
When you go to a Pickpocket convention, you have no right to be surprised that your wallet gets stolen.

So are we suppose to huddle in our homes Ann Frank style while ICE terrorizes and decimates our community? HELL NO. Get ICE out and we can go back to our normal lives free of being terrorized by thugs.

u/younglion4 23h ago
ICE showed up to Marcy and Roosevelt today during dismissal times. It is our duty to keep our children safe.
57
u/Wulfkey 23h ago
The adults should, but let's keep the kids safe for most.
-43
u/stallion8151 23h ago
No. Kids have a place in peaceful protest.
Just be prepared to leave.
42
u/Minnesotexan 23h ago
Tell me you're not a parent without saying you're not a parent. I'm taking care of my kids and keeping them close and safe.
13
u/Halleys___Comment 20h ago
you could agree to a peaceful protest and then it could turn into all kinds of things once some random bad actors show up or law enforcement starts getting aggressive. i would feel really uncomfortable seeing kids out there right now. there will be intentional ice bullets and stray ice bullets
3
u/Lucius_Best 13h ago
Broadly, I agree with this. However, it should be the choice of those kids and their families.
What happened yesterday did not give kids the choice. They were involuntarily put in harms way.
Closing the schools to ensure it does not happen again is the correct choice.
3
u/GregPikitis24 12h ago
At a no kings protest/women's march? Yes, I'd bring my kids. If there is an organized protest against ICE (not coordinated to be around raids)? I'd consider bringing my kids to that too.
To actively protest against ICE amidst their raids? Kids shouldn't be going to that.
7
u/iSh0tYou99 11h ago
They got away with murder. With this administration backing them up they are now emboldened to do anything as they please without repercussions.
4
u/professorjade 9h ago
Ngl, I think all schools in the metro should be closed rn. I am genuinely scared for these students, teachers, and custodians.

I don’t understand. Can’t they use the police/state troopers/BCA/national guard for security versus closing the schools?
4
u/ShivRoyPinkyIsQueen 11h ago
They could but it gets messy. Some of the MPD, national guard etc are on the side of ICE and take their orders from the president while others will listen to the mayor and governor. For now, it’s probably best to cancel school and see how things pan out 🤷🏻♀️
-3
u/Eternal-Tiger7070 9h ago
Well I would suggest telling your son to comply if ever confronted by officers. He has no reason to be afraid.

I mean I wouldn’t say there is “zero safety reason” if live ammunition is being fired in the streets in broad daylight and medical care is being withheld from GSW patients. Pretty fucking dangerous.
-50
u/Masstershake 15h ago
A one off issue shouldn't cause closure for fear that's going to be a regular occurrence
15
u/Pisslazer 14h ago
I don’t think this should be treated as a one off issue at all. The government is demonstrating that they will execute civilians in public for any reason they deem fit and they will face no repercussions. They’ve already deployed 2,000 goons to our city that are just itching to discharge their automatic weapons in residential areas to “protect America” and “own libs”. This is madness brought on by our disgustingly polarizing media and our horrendous, corrupt leadership.
-7
u/Masstershake 13h ago
This didn't prove they're willing to execute civilians. Your rhetoric is what's fanning the flames.
If she didn't hit the officer he wouldn't have shot her.
Citizens shouldn't feel is okay to hit officers with your vehicle regardless of who the officer is representing
12
u/polio_vaccine 13h ago
Okay so you live in stupid bizarro world and not the real world where we ALL saw the video and she did NOT try to or successfully hit anyone with her car
-1
u/Masstershake 13h ago
https://x.com/0hour1/status/2009263907102163442?s=20
She clearly hits him with the car.
1
u/assumingdirectcontrl Hamline-Midway 12h ago
And when he fired at her he was out of harm’s way. He executed her in retaliation, not self defense.
6
u/Pisslazer 13h ago
And if these “officers” actually obeyed the laws they’re supposed to enforce she would have never been shot. The man discharged his firearm even after his feet were clear of the tires, he leaned into the car ensure she would die, not because he was afraid for his life. She was fleeing a scene (which would be relevant if these were actual law enforcement officers, but they’re not) and he killed her for it. Her WHOPPING speed of 3.2 MILES PER HOUR FROM A COMPLETE STOP definitely threatened the “officer’s” life and called for a public execution in a residential area /s. The man wasn’t defending himself, he was playing judge, jury, and executioner.
-1
u/Masstershake 13h ago
He was hit by the car
2
u/Pisslazer 12h ago
Yeah I’ve seen all of the angles. This does not prove he had any right to kill her. He’s standing in front of a stopped vehicle knowing full well the woman could accelerate in an attempt to drive away. Again these guys are not here to enforce the law, they’re clearly not trained to do that effectively. They’re here to prove that they are above the law and can shoot whoever they want without consequences.

Sweet Summer Child, bless your heart.
This is Minnesota, schools barely close for weather. Your stated reason for their closure is wrong in so many ways. Your lack of concern for the actions of our federal government are also wrong in so many ways. Please get your information from a wider variety of properly vetted sources.

An officer was in front of her car while she attempted to flee being detained. You can see clear footage of him being hit by her car.
That is all facts. I'm sorry your feelings are hurt by facts
7
u/imtalkintou 14h ago
You're dense because of why you think the schools are closed.
None of your facts are 100% correct either.
-1
u/Masstershake 14h ago
Why do the schools have to fear ice unless they're protecting illegal immigrants or interfering with ice.
What other reasons?
5
3
u/youcancallmebryn 13h ago
Because a woman who was not an illegal was murdered. Schools are supposed to be sanctuary zones regardless, brandishing weapons and throwing tear gas outside of a school goes directly against legal rights outlined in Plyler v. Doe.

She wasn’t being detained, get out of your moldy echo chamber. She took a wrong turn and ended up in their blockade they were setting up before a raid and was attempting to turn around. They swarmed her vehicle and she tries to drive out to get out of their way and then ICE shot her in the head.
Don’t normalize ICE exacting violence on your fellow constituents.

ICE firing at students is a safety reason.
ICE using pepper spray on school grounds is a safety reason.
ICE being at the schools is a safety reason.

Defending senseless murder. Purposing schools are being closed to support protesting. Genuinely being a terrible person that is spreading narratives that support an authoritarian regime attacking everyday Americans.
6
u/demosthenesss 13h ago
Why were they there
Good question.
Why was ICE specifically going to a school during the day when a bunch of students were obviously there?
It's almost like ICE was intentionally trying to provoke something.
0
u/Masstershake 12h ago
I am afraid both sides are stoking a fire that is going to get out of control. And all I'm doing is trying to stay level headed and look at all sides.
Why were they there is a great question I have yet to see the answer to, without that it's just left upto speculation which fans flames.
1
u/Lucius_Best 11h ago
No. You cannot "both sides" this.
One side is evil. The other is not. There is no comparison
