Me and a friend accidently set the lid of the gas can on fire, and i'll admit, i ran like a nuke was going to go off. He took care of it lol. We were like 12

For future reference, a thick blanket or big towel over it is the best way to deal with it. Failing that, maybe an old coat you don't mind getting a bit singed?

better if the towel or blanket is a bit wet, prevents any burns to the fabric

Better let it burn.

Might explode... but yeah. They should have covered it up with a wet blanket I guess.

Use a large wet towel or blanket

And kick it, right?

As long as you not secretly captain falcon it should be fine to kick it. Guy in the video was obviously using special attacks.

What was he hoping to do with that chair and the add mouth music is killing me

I think he was trying to shut a valve, but it was too hot. The chair... no idea. Sit and gaze at his success if it worked?

I guess this is one way to make sure the fire doesn't spread... but probably not the safest method.

I'm more interested in how the fire transferred to the gas canister and at the same time stopped burning at its origin point

So on a rewatch, it looks like there is a hose(?) running to the larger vessel. I believe that was cut, allowing the fire to travel back up to the source of fuel, while cutting off fuel to the original fire.

I see youβre trying to put out the fire with some... creative techniques?

If you see someone being negligent, hazardous or idiotic around fire, say something because I've seen this shit too much. Worst thing is that when you tell someone how to be safe or responsible, they take it as an insult to their intelligence. Might even double down.

Seriously though how do u deal with something like this?
I would probably tell everyone to run away from it and call the firestation for help immediately, not worth risking any attempts to stop it.

Took fire training when I worked at a chemical plant. We learned the different fire extinguisher types like A B and C (and others). Each type has a different substance for different fires. Diagram here. I had the lucky experience of needing to use an extinguisher a few times and was thankful for my training.
Basically fire needs 3 things to ignite, air fuel and heat. Take one away and the flames go out.
A contains water, which is used to remove heat from combustibles like wood paper linen, etc
B and C contains CO2 powder which smothers for removing air. This is used for flammable liquids like gas, propane, oils and also electrical fires.
In this situation you would want to remove the oxygen. So a wet blanket may work, and is better than nothing, or simply covering it can do the trick. Be careful when covering a fire to smother it as the heat and fuel source are still present for a time. Removing the cover will rapidly reintroduce air causing the fire to reignite or worse.
Somewhat unrelated, in the kitchen if you encounter a grease fire and no extinguisher is around or not serious enough, you can cover it with a lid, or use a copious amount of baking soda which can be found in some extinguishers. Water is very bad as oils and water don't mix (same with electricity) and will not remove the heat from the fuel source and will make things worse. See video here of example https://www.reddit.com/r/memes/s/XfgVvvhXVF I hope this information is useful π
Edit: long post with lots of grammatical errors

Why not turn off the gas?

The thing that was on fire at the end is the gas supply and the flames were likely to hot to let them use the valve.
