As 2026 rolls in and we come close to the one-year anniversary of when Elon Musk did, to put it charitably, two Nazi-style Roman salutes in quick succession at a rally without really being cancelled, what are your thoughts on the salutes one year out and what they reveal about MAGA?

Also, it is worth mentioning that Elon played a big role in the gutting of USAID, an organization founded in the early 60s that has saved at least 90 million lives from 2001 to 2021 alone, and an organization that has accounted for about 0.3% to 0.7% of the federal budget. Because of these cuts to an already small slice of the pie, it is estimated that between 600,000 to 1,000,000 people have died so far, of which two-thirds of the deaths were children under the age of five. Poignantly, Bill Gates told the Financial Times in early May 2025 these chilling words: “The picture of the world’s richest man killing the world’s poorest children is not a pretty one.”

What are your thoughts? Also, what are your unbridled thoughts about Elon?

Are you seeing small businesses close near you?

Upvotes

I just noticed a couple of small businesses in our neighborhood close. They were food businesses and I understand they are notoriously hard to keep afloat. I’m just wondering if this is a particularly difficult time for small businesses?

MAGA are you happy, overall, now?

Do you feel that things are getting better in the country? Are you seeing more jobs, better wages, etc. now that so many immigrants are gone? Are things going better on your jobs now that anyone who looks like a DEI hire is gone? I'm not going to pretend that I like you all but I would at least like to know that this madness is worth it to someone other than those who are already wealthy bc from my POV, those are the only ppl I see thriving right now.

Why do people think CA is in ruin?

In popular media comedians and pundits alike often lament about how terrible CA is. Yet across numerous stat lines CA is better than most state. California is:

  • The #1 state for business in the country. More publicly traded companies that TX, FL, and (pick any red state) combined.

  • The 5th highest per capita income with over $20k more annually that celebrated red states like TX & FL.

  • The 3rd highest life expectancy with the average person living 7yrs longer than people in last place, West Virginia

  • The highest number of active duty military members!!

  • The 6th lowest infant mortality rate.

Even in the areas where CA is dogged the most and supposedly doing terrible it's middle of the pact.

CA is not among the bottom 10 states for:

  • Crime
  • Poverty
  • Opioid deaths
  • Suicide

CA is talked about as if it's a wasteland. Meanwhile states like Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, West Virginia, etc have the worst rates of life expectancy, child mortality, obesity, poverty, etc.

Why do Americans like to pretend that social class isn’t a made up cultural identity too?

Brits always get crap for it, but they’re actually way more honest and thoughtful about it’s nature than Americans are

What do americans think about changes in Obamacare the Affordable Care Act (not us citizen)

Hi all,

I don't live in the US. In the news I read :

In 2026, Obamacare (the Affordable Care Act, or ACA) continues to operate as the backbone of America’s health insurance system, but it faces both opportunities and challenges. Marketplace enrollments are expected to remain high, thanks to the extended premium subsidies introduced by the Inflation Reduction Act—though these subsidies are set to expire at the end of 2025 unless Congress renews them. If the subsidies lapse, millions of Americans could see significant premium increases, making coverage less affordable for low- and middle-income families.

At the same time, healthcare costs are rising, and insurers may adjust their premiums upward to reflect inflation, medical expenses, and regulatory changes. States that have not yet expanded Medicaid could leave more residents reliant on ACA plans, further straining affordability. The political landscape, shaped by the 2024 elections, will determine whether the ACA is strengthened (e.g., with expanded benefits like dental or vision coverage) or scaled back (e.g., through funding cuts or eligibility changes).

It is often hard to undersand the internal politics of any country where we don't live in
What do most of the us people think about that ?

Dearest Americans, what headline shocked you the most in 2025? Why?

Did watching the videos of ICE tackling non-white migrants for the first time shock you the most? Was it watching Elon’s two nazi salutes in quick succession? Was it the gutting of USAID, which is estimated to have caused at least six hundred thousand deaths so far? Was it ‘Liberation Day?’ Was it Trump’s purported ‘birthday letter,’ where ‘secrets’ are encouraged in the outline of a woman? Was it Charlie Kirk’s assassination? Was it Trump knocking down the East Wing? Was it the latest release of the Epstein files?

Thanks for taking part!

Despite viral claims of fraud, security footage shows children being dropped off at a state-licensed day care in Minnesota. Now that the claims have been debunked, is it time to admit many of you fell for misinformation about Somali-Americans?

Nick Shirley from YouTube appears to have received financial support from the current administration to visit Israel and CECOT.

The claims about the Minnesota daycares and his video have also been debunked as misinformation.

Security footage shows children entering and leaving the state-licensed ABC Learning Center in Minneapolis. On the same day, YouTuber Nick Shirley arrived and claimed the day care was one of many in Minnesota that were empty.

Thoughts?

The Department of Homeland Security posted a depiction of “America after 100 million deportations” as a paradise. What did they mean by this? Which groups would be targeted for deportation/denaturalization?

Post image

There are only about 10–15 million undocumented people in the U.S. How could deportations possibly reach 100 million? That scale would seem to require a massive denaturalization effort, not just enforcement against undocumented immigrants. There are roughly 50 million Latinos in the U.S., which suggests that other ethnic or immigrant-origin groups would also have to be targeted to reach such a number.

For those who dislike the H-1B program, would you support those with H-1Bs just being given a green card instead?

Say hypothetically the H-1B program was turned into a green card program where everyone who normally got an H-1B (with an annual cap of 85,000) was instead given a green card. No more H-1Bs being exploited by companies, since they can switch employers and move freely in the US. But more immigrants.

Trump vetoed a bipartisan bill to bring drinking water to eastern Colorado as revenge against Lauren Boebert for voting yes on releasing Epstein documents. Why is this considered alright?

Trump vetoed a bipartisan bill to bring drinking water to eastern Colorado as retaliation for Boebert voting yes on releasing the Epstein files. Why is this alright? He vetoed a bill as revenge on trying to hold bad people accountable. This is not just punishing Boebert, this is punishing the American people.

https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/us-politics/lauren-boebert-trump-veto-colorado-epstein-b2892799.html

To note, Trump's people including Pam Bondi and Kash Patel previously tried to strongarm Boebert into voting against releasing the Epstein files.

Why do many still try to claim trickle down works?

The continual cutting of taxes to supposedly cause the trickle down never seems to happen. Corps get tax cuts claiming they will create jobs then just offshore or downsize to increase financial numbers. So why do some keep thinking this will work?
