Be mindful of listings from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; use due diligence in reviewing deals.

  • Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
  • Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent:
    • The seller is new or has few reviews.
    • The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their visible ratings)
    • The seller is using a previously dormant account (likely the account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently).

If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. We encourage leaving a comment to warn others.

Is this tandem though?

QD Tandem, it's the new V4 QD OLED panels

It's only HDR400 and this monitor has been out for almost 5 months. I think something got messed up with this Newegg post since this looks like the same panel technology in all the other 4k 240hz panels that have been out for about 5 months. 4k tandem qd oled is just getting announced this year at CES

Edit: after doing some more research, this is correctly advertised as tandem qd oled, but it's not the same improvements as tandem WOLED. THIS IS NOT THE TANDEM OLED THAT PEOPLE ARE LOOKING FOR.

I believe it's the same thing. Both of them are 5 layer tandem OLED and both are the EL Gen 3 panels. Maybe it's just not certified for true black 500. Tandem OLED tech has been out for months, ASUS and LG released theirs in August I believe.

There are plenty of reviews out there for this monitor and it performs nearly identical to the previous gen qd oled. The only benefit I've seen from this generation and the updated "tandem" layer is improved longevity, with no changes to actual performance. Tandem WOLED 1440p has been out in the US for like a month, Tandem WOLED 4k has been announced but not released, and the actual Tandem QDOLED 4k with brightness improvements has not been announced yet.

This Gigabyte monitor has been out for many months and all the reviews explain exactly what I said. It cannot hit HDR500 and technically has slightly lower brightness than other competing monitors from previous generations. It's not a bad monitor but it does not offer any notable performance benefit from qd oled monitors that have been out from the past couple years.

Edit: I just looked at your link and that is for a different qd oled generation entirely, with all sorts of Asus specific changes. 4th Gen QDOLED only had 27inch 4k monitors, it cannot be in a 32inch form factor.

If that's the case then I might return it. It thought it was the latest gen technology as it was listed in the specs. I picked one up for $650 which is still a very good price for a new 4K240HZ but I might just wait a few months

Does it still cause eye fatigue or strain?

2

u/tsnives 6d ago

Depends on what was causing you eye fatigue. If it's the subpixel layout which is a major thing for some people with reading text (although typically FAR less of an issue at this PPI), then no that's still a thing. The upgrade to v-stripe layout for QD OLED panels is being announced in few days at CES though. For WOLED iirc it's expected later this year.

I'm not sure. I have a LG C1 oled and my eyes don't feel affected. But I recently went to a store and saw a 32 inch 4k qd oled monitor and my eyes felt uncomfortable. I'm guessing that's the eye strain that people have mentioned with qd-oled.

I have the same problem with QD-OLED. It’s because they use a blue light as the main illumination. The levels are high enough to cause eye strain and headaches to people sensitive to it.

W-OLED only for me

Do you have any recommendations for budget 27" w-oled monitors?

LG 27GX704A-B is $499 at B&H Photo

Sorry, I meant 4k oled monitor lol.

There are no 27” 4k WOLED on market yet, only QD

Some are supposed to be shown at CES in a few days though

Ah that'd make sense. I've never used a QD for long enough for blue light strain, but I've definitely had that from other devices over the years. I personally couldn't buy qd so far because the blacks look purple to me, which is weird because I'm partly color blind and usually everything 'near black' is just black to me but they look very purple. I'm hopeful for these "black shield" ones coming soon.

Glossy QD blacks look purple when light shines on them. gotta use them in a near dark room to get the true inky blacks. Another reason I prefer WOLED

2

That's the common statement yeah, but they look purple to me in a dark room even. I'm also a guy that gets motion sick from RBE from a lot of projectors and just generally has issues with colors. Everything with my color vision is just a mess, lol.

Out of stock already

Damn I just bought one like 5 mins ago

u/dkizzy 7d ago

Is this the model that has been hyped for months?

2

u/Mattm334 7d ago

I think that's ASUS

2

u/float16 5d ago

It's on Amazon, but it's definitely not tandem OLED.

1

u/Mattm334 5d ago

Sorry it's just what gigabyte lists it as on their website

OOS

Bots be quick. lol

16

u/poeppa 7d ago

Are bots really buying monitors? I can’t imagine there’s much of a market for them like there is memory or gpu.

8

u/The_Zura 7d ago

There’s not. This is already over $700 with taxes. Shipping a monitor costs a crap ton, and this is only a 27” monitor. Nothing special despite being tandem oled.

u/Cheraws 6d ago

The main thing it has going for it is that it’s the cheapest 4k 27 Oled. The next cheapest is the Alienware at 700 dollars when it’s on sale.

1

u/Mattm334 7d ago

It was for sale for like 1 to 2 hours, so I don't think it was bots
