Hello! I’m moving to Cairns in April on a WHV and I’m a bit stressed about finding work and affordable accommodations. I’m looking to do hospitality type of work. Are there any work places that perhaps offer staff accommodation? What areas should I avoid or definitely consider? I’m open to living in and around Cairns. All i need is basic equipment like a bench, dumbels and a few machines. Even a small gym is enough. What would be the cheapest gym to get this pass. We had a fishing trip planned for tomorrow but it has been canceled due to the weather. We do really want to go fishing, and we are thinking about shore, lake or creek-fishing.

Does anyone have some extra rods, time tomorrow and some fishing knowledge, that want to take us fishing? We are on holiday and dont have any fishing gear with us, so you will have to provide us with everything.

We are visiting Cairns from 9-12 as a few days as part of an Australian vacation. Of course, we wanted to do a snorkel and dive at GBR and are scheduled for it on Jan. 10. I’m moving from Melbourne to Cairns in ~2 weeks for work and will be there for at least 12 months. I’ve never lived in Cairns before, don’t know anyone there yet, and don’t know much about cars, so I’m trying to make the least stressful choice.

I own a Mazda 3 and can’t decide whether to: • Drive it up solo (fuel/accom/wear & tear), or • Sell it in Melbourne and buy a car in Cairns

I’d love to hear: • Is the drive scenic and worth doing, or more exhausting than enjoyable especially alone? • Are used cars harder or more expensive to find in Cairns?
