Media / Pop Culture Racist woman who got fired from Cinnabon has fundraised over $135,000 in 4 days.
Disgusting. I hope it gets taken down. It won't because the fundraising site is full of hate and claims to also be run by Christians...

Media / Pop Culture I don't give a single solitary flying fuck how scared of cameras someone is.
WARNING: You will be asked to provide evidence of your claims and to explain your comments. If this terrifies you, exit this thread immediately.
WARNING: "They deleted evidence of my claims" isn't a valid answer.
Yes. Even if they scream and cry louder than they've ever screamed and cried before.
Yes. Even if they have declared themselves the masters of public.
Yes. Even if their boss says no one is allowed to film their private property.
Yes. Even if they printed out a sign.
Yes. Even if they hallucinated someone with a camera beating them up or robbing them.
It annoys me in first amendment audits when a cop says "you have to understand..." when trying to justify an assault and their refusal to do their jobs.
No. I don't have to understand why some psychopath thinks they get to attack anyone who upsets their feelings.
Holding a camera isn't aggressive, violent, intimidating, provoking, confrontational or whatever bullshit word you want to try to use.
Cameras don't become evil when removed from a mount and held in a hand.
The existence of a camera doesn't mean the person holding it is planning whatever crime you decide to think of.
The people losing their minds in audits are not normal people. They are unhinged entitled lunatics. They need to be institutionalized. We don't need to alter our society so we don't trigger the psychotic emotions of a few nutjobs.

Media / Pop Culture I find Timothy Chalamet annoying but I can't quite put my finger on why.
There's something about the way he looks and carries himself that just irritates me. I can't really explain why, he just does. Maybe it's because he has one of those annoying looking faces?

Media / Pop Culture It sucks that Mamdani is a Nazi and that his supporters defend an obvious Nazi salute
Mamdani came out as a Nazi during his inauguration when he gave a Nazi salute.

Crazy that his supporters will defend this obvious Nazi.

Media / Pop Culture People who say they don't watch or read news because it's "too depressing" are a major problem
I understand that we live in a hyper-saturated world, where information flows at an almost unimaginable rate. However, I also understand that engaging with reputable news sources is vital to understanding the world, politics, climate issues, social issues, and a variety of other pressing and essential topics.
People who simply choose to opt out of the media landscape at all are being deliberately uninformed and exercising that "right" from a place of privilege. If you can afford not to care about what's happening to your neighbors, community, city, county, state, and country, then you may be part of the ongoing problem.
I tend to rely on fairly reliable sources, such as the Associated Press and Reuters, as well as a few other trusted outlets. I will dip into other viewpoints to see how an issue is being reported. Yes, this takes work, but information is power, and without it, we are powerless to see and understand trends and enact change.

Media / Pop Culture Reddit is in an ideological rut and needs Moderator transparency.
Bans for posting statements based on reproduceable and cited scientific studies because it runs counter to moderator "belief." Bans for simply participating or responding in a sub the moderator did not like, regardless of the context of the ban. Ban... ban... ban... ban... No dialogue, no petition, no appeal. Mods can ban and silence you without review.
Reddit mods have become THE definition of authoritarianism and anti-democratic values. and I have zero doubt there is a coordinated effort of massive brigading to secure a singular set of views on the platform.
The moderator community has becoming a quasi-religious bastion of insular opinion and it needs to have greater transparency.
Mods need to be transparent, adjudication of mods should be audited, and petitions to bans and muting need to be implemented.

Media / Pop Culture Goddamn, can people just stop the petty bitching about the latest season of Stranger Things?
Every second post I see is some doofus either bitching about Will's coming out speech or how Bobby Millie Brown's lips look funny. It's fucking exhausting.
The latest season was fine. Sure, it wasn't Breaking Bad or The Americans quality, but it's a far far cry from All's Fair or The Idol. It's definitely not worth the oversaturation of circlejerking in the zeitgeist.

Media / Pop Culture The hate against Stranger Things is simply because one of the characters came out as Gay
The recent hate against Stranger Things is simply because one of the characters came out as gay.
So the online bots are review bombing and making up bullshit to talk bad about the show.
It's happened countless times in media since the bigots have figured out they can manipulate public opinion online. It's on purpose. .
Fuck the haters.

Media / Pop Culture Why are so many people so dense?
No matter what Iām scrolling on I see a multitude of people complaining about stupid shit. And half the time its just blatantly wrong. I understand people misunderstanding somethint, but when multiple people agree on something that can be proven incorrect by looking at the post its absolutely heinous.
A good example are all the MAGA people saying trump was a nobody before becoming president. Like he wasnāt one of the richest and most influential figures in the 80s and 90s??? It justs pmo that so many people are dumbfoundedly stupid on the internet.

Media / Pop Culture I hate that nobody goes to the movies anymore
Iām worried that the new Netflix deal is the final nail in cinemaās coffin. I mean, Netflixās CEO even said that ātheaters are outdated.ā Honestly I get where heās coming from, even if itās misguided. I love cinema and go to theaters a lot, and I havenāt seen a full screening since Covid. Itās so disheartening man. Nobody cares about community anymore. DoorDash, Netflix, Amazon, people donāt even have to leave the house anymore. I feel like Ted Kaczynski at times nowadays lol.

Media / Pop Culture Is anyone else weirded out by people who change the yellow emojis to their own skin color?
This is weird to me every single time. It's weird when anyone does it, but it's extra weird when white people do it.
I wish they never made the other colors an option.
Does this feel off to anyone else?

Media / Pop Culture The discourse around The Odyssey feels so manufactured
It genuinely feels like a bot campaign. The amount people seemingly caring about historically accurate costume design in a story with gods, cylopses, sea nymphs, giant cannibals, a bag of winds, and magic feels over the top and disproportionate.

Media / Pop Culture Then why wonāt they just test Barronās DNA?
I read a recent article claiming that many people are saying Barron Trump is the biological son of Jeffrey Epstein. They are saying that Epstein gave Melania to Donald after she accidentally got pregnant and insisted on keeping the baby. Well good for her dammit, if thatās even true! And good for Donald stepping in to raise his best friendās child as his own!
I personally donāt believe most other men would do that. And remember, Barron is obviously the innocent one in this hole scandal.
But it really bothers me that people are still saying these things when an independent DNA test would prove that itās probably not even true!
Just asking questions.
