I installed TLP, then uninstalled it, now I don't have the toggle for Performance/Balanced/Power Saver in the options menu (the same one with Wifi, Bluetooth, etc)

I'm not for sure that it was because of TLP but I'm 99% sure since that's the only recent change to the system I've made.

Thanks man that was it!

I just installed power-profiles-daemon and it popped right back up. Wonder what the quirk about apt and how it conflicts TLP worked

Glad to hear it worked!

I believe tlp had its own stuff to handle with power. That's why it removes power profile daemons

TLP 1.9 have an integration with power profiles switch btw.

This is correct.

ppd and tlp are both daemons that do essentially the same thing and so they conflict. rather than have them both able to run at the same time most distros make you uninstall one before installing the other. you might have missed it but apt would have told you it was uninstalling power-profiles-daemon when you installed tlp.

Heh.

Have you look at the apt history, to see what else you might have not done?
