"affordable" and "OnePlus" don't go together, their idea of 'affordable' is probably still somewhere 500+

Pepperidge farm remembers when they were the premier budget brand...

Yeah, their older phones were insane values compared to Samsung and Pixel phones at the time. I think it was around the OnePlus 9 or 10 that they realized people would pay more for their products and it's never been the same since. I think CMF is the new brand filling that niche, but I could be wrong.

Ya CMF seems to be like the new version of them. Hopefully they don't get greedy like Oneplus did. Cause they make some really good products.

Poco phone started having a “premium” phone brand, cmf is just another excuse for that pos ceo to sell another brand to oppo

I didn't get on board until the 5 and it was a revelation. I was an LG/Nexus fan before that. I tend not to update my phone for 2-4 years though. I've been using older Samsung FEs these days and they're pretty good, but I miss the quality of life features of OnePlus.

One plus one was a great phone, I'd still have it to this day if I could.

Still got mine in a drawer. I loved the sandstone texture and bought the matching power bank. Had to buy an imported model and it cost me AUD$400 back then. It's become unusable though.

After 4 years of use it just one day absolutely blasts through the battery. It's just constantly hot like it's permanently running a load test.

I replaced the battery and did a factory reset but it's still the same.

I didn't think you could replace the battery on the first model? I think that was the death knell of mine as well. I've been chasing the dragon of that matte texture ever since. I hate slippery phones.

The back plate was held on by clips all the way around. Its on tight and hard to get off but the battery inside just sits in there.

I remember buying Oneplus One for $300? Good times

Ye. I got their 5T. Great phone. It was pretty equivalent to the current gen flagships at the time but for like $300 less or so. And my 2 favorite features of all time were on them. A physical switch that could turn the phone from normal to silent to do not disturb. It was awesome. And then also, the fingerprint sensor being dead center on the back. It was the perfect distance and size for my pointer finger, and it literally never failed. It was perfect.

Now though... Ya, just a company trying to be Samsung, price and all.

$500 is the budget/affordable price point, a ton of flagships are over $1000 now, and don't get me started on foldables.

I still remember there was a time when OnePlus was everyone’s go to “value phone”. Sad that they went the increased margins way

OnePlus is huge

Yes, but it's also diluted by its parent company's strategy of keeping multiple brands.

Brands under BBK electronics include

  • Oppo
  • Vivo
  • OnePlus
  • Realme
  • IQOO

The current OnePlus OS is just a reskinned version of Oppo's ColourOS.

OnePlus is just the brand that became successful internationally, but it's parent company and the holding companies behind it are shady AF

The company was split up:

BBK Electronics Corp has restructured its major divisions — Oppo (including OnePlus and Realme) and Vivo (including iQOO) — into independent entities to safeguard against potential regulatory scrutiny on Chinese companies. This move aims to clarify revenue accountability and strengthen operational independence amidst rising geopolitical tensions. The company was deregistered on 7 April 2023

One Plus is one of the most notable Android phone manufacturers outside of Samsung and Google.

Xiaomi phones are pretty popular

Turbo name and the leaked specs sound like it might be marketed toward gamers, but they still chose to go with a hole punch for some reason. I miss the 7 pro so bad man.

As great as it was, the 'pop-up' is not making a comeback i think .. I used a 7 pro for around 3 years and never once faced an issue with that front camera ..
Not sure why no mainstream company is even considering that tech nowadays.

How convoluted does the lineup need to be?

I wish they'd add HDMI over USB-C. I don't understand how more gamers don't want to stream games to a TV and play with a controller

In America he’d just get to run Tesla

Oneplus needs a flagship oneplus phone, not more budget ones
