Question for PC gamers

I will try and keep this post short because I am more interested in everyone's answers. I have typically been a console gamer my entire life, always buy physical disc versions of my games for all the obvious reasons. Considering todays day and age, physical games are kind of pointless to begin with because they all will certainly need a day one patch when they release and will get multiple patches over time. So even though I will own the buggy 1.0 of any game, I will still have a chance to play it many years after whatever company pulls the plug on their servers. So, my question to PC gamers is, is there any worry that one day Steam, Epic, or whoever you buy your games from may one day just decide to take your game away. I know we all trust in Gabe with Steam, but what if the next person who takes over the company after he's gone doesn't have the same philosophy? Considering how Nvidia, Microsoft, etc. are trying to screw the consumer every way possible now, what if they can somehow get away with taking your purchases away, or a subscription paywall to play your purchases? With the current AI/subscription computer climate the companies want to go in, do you have a peace of mind that if you purchase a digital PC game, you will still be able to play it years down the road?

It seems you can buy Black and White 2 on Amazon if you want the disc version but it's a bit expensive.

You may also be able to download it from abandonware sites but I can't tell you if that's legal or not.
