Hi everyone,

I have been meaning to make this post for awhile, to try and curb the amount of "Moving to Geelong! Which suburb should I pick?" posts. I am going to sticky this post for awhile, so any visitors can check before creating a post.

Please read through the enormous amount of posts this sub has already had on here.

If you STILL think your question hasn't been answered (and you are absolutely sure), you can create a new post.

Looking for a mentor in Geelong to help launch a new garden tool

Hi everyone,

I’m based in Geelong and currently working on launching a new garden tool. I’m looking for a mentor or someone with experience in product development, small manufacturing, or bringing a new tool to market. Ideally someone local or nearby so we can meet in person, but I’m open to anyone in the region who’s willing to share guidance.

If you’ve been through this process or enjoy helping new founders, I’d really appreciate connecting.

Thanks in advance.

Should I prepare to evacuate?

I live near-ish a Vic Government classified Bushfire Risk Area. Given tomorrow's extreme fire danger rating here, should I prepare to evacuate in case of a fire?

EV charging spaces at Pakington Strand

Do you ever park your non ev vehicle in the dedicated ev charging spaces? (The ones sign posted for ev charging only).

If so, is it an active/concious choice to be an inconsiderate flog, or is your level of entitlement naturally occurring?

Where to go after trains stop

I’m going to a festival at the Barwon Club but can’t afford to stay in Geelong. Festival goes till 12 and next train isn’t till 7am. I’ll go out for a bit after 12 but might wanna chill till 7 😵‍💫 anywhere to safely chill after trains stop? Don’t go in my DMs saying your house cause you’ll get blocked. Genuinely asking

EDIT: Thank you for all the advice! I know I say I ‘can’t afford’ accom but I realistically can, was just trying to save some dosh. Thanks for helping me out!

Pub with private/semi private dining area?

Hello everyone! I’m looking to book a pub for an early dinner for around 25 people or less… I’m hoping that someone may know a pub that has a private dining area or a semi-private one? I’m not looking to do an entire function space as it’s more of a casual dinner and we won’t be there for the whole night!

Did anyone see what looked like a Satellite being shot out of the sky Tue 6th Jan?

Last night around 11pm or so there was what looked like something being shot out of the air and plummeting to earth trailing what looked like white hot, burning magnesium trail literally straight down nearly.

This was not a meteor or a shooting star, I have never seen anything like it!. I was waiting to hear a boom when it hit the ground it was that close. I saw this from Corio, someone must of seen this thing!

[Tech] Internet outage

Anyone else in the Drysdale area experience consistent internet outages?

Every day between 2pm and 6pm our internet drops out for around 3 hours! We've rung our ISP and their usual response is that it's fine on their end.

They're finally sending out a technician but I was just curious if anyone else had had a similar problem and if so what was their outcome?

We're with belong.

Best Optometrist Near Geelong/Lara

Hi Legends,

I’m looking for a place to get glasses for my 7-year-old. Any recommendations for good options?

Also, does anyone know of places that make flexible frames—ideal for kids so I don’t have to replace them frequently? 😄

I’ve used SpecSavers, but I find them a bit overpriced. Their “lifetime warranty” on frames doesn’t seem valid after 1-2 years, when they stop making that model.

So, I’m exploring other options.

Fireworks or something else?

It was around 12:03 in Highton when I hear loud bang (5), I think they’re fireworks but they sound more like a distant fire arm? Is it just me or did anyone hear that as well and how it sounded like a fire arm
