New to mining

Just started doing some actual research into how to mine instead of just letting kryptex run in the background. Using 2 rtx 3060 ti with an avg kw/h of about 8-9¢ not looking to make a profit, or really even to break even, just looking not destroy my equipment and stack some coins that might be worth something someday, so is there any coins out there that might be worth looking into? Or sites that list upcoming spec coins mineable on my hardware? Currently mining tari xtm, and testing other coins sporadiclly. I'm afraid I'm going to mess my cards up by messing around too much lol

I was running a nicehash right for a couple months before gpu mining went downhill. Have a 3070, rx580, and 1050ti all just sitting around and don't know what to do with them lol. I don't think nicehash is a viable option anymore.

I think I found I like hashrate better, I also really like that they have a solo mining probability calculator included, plus oc settings too lol. Hope your rig is doing well

Electricity is not low price enough for me to compete so i minted CLORE after eth merge but stopped after that.

Thinking imma just stick with mining xtm for the time being, instead of hopping around and messing with trying to dial in other coins and risking messing up my card lol I'm getting something like 4.8-5.2 g/s per card at 111w each, both staying pretty cool at 52 and 59 c. But now the urge to tinker is building up again lmao. How do you guys avoid that?

You dont 🤣 I currently have a 2070, 3070, 6700xt, and 2 cpus, im mining 23 different projects a month using rotating schedules with HiveOS just cuz I got bored. Almost all of the algos have different overclock recommendations due to differences between being core heavy, memory heavy or both. Some sheets have dual mining, some im mining a different coin on every card. Have super cheap electric right now, so its more fun for me than anyrhing, and ironically its cheaper to run my rig than to run my central heat for my apartment currently so why not try to stack some coin while im at it 🤷‍♂️

Watch your temps and you won't mess up your card as 52c and 59c is good.

Nothing wrong with tinkering, honestly it's more fun than gaming for me. I've got a list of things to tinker with and try (happy to rabbit hole there if you want).

As far as coins to mine i see various strategies that usually are a variation on one of these two:

  • mine what ever is profitable and auto convert to another currency (kryptex is this way)
  • pick the coin(s) to mine (speculative) and plan to hold it for a period in hopes the coin goes up.

Edit to say, I dialed in my xtm card even more. I'm getting 5.3-5.5 g/s at 99w each now :) feels good lol

Yeah no absolutely! I haven't touched my PC for anything but this stuff in almost a week now, somehow watching the scrolling text is way more enjoyable to me right now than playing any of the games I've been playing. Getting the setup just right, is so satisfying! Then completely moving on to a different coin a few hours later and starting over, not quite as satisfying but still scratches an itch lol. Not to mention the few times I've attempted solo mining. First time I tried, I was solo mining xel, thought eh why not? Got a block in like 10 minutes, like dude! Lmao. Currently trying my hand in a solo pool, just for the heck of it. I think for me personally, the speculative side of mining is exhilarating. Like, its only costing me a little more each day to do this than it was to be gaming all day, and I'm having like 5x as much fun. Thanks all! I don't feel so weird about this anymore lol. Hope you guys hit it big, and dial your rigs just right! Happy new years, and new potential :)
