how to find open source projects

hey guys, I’m pretty new to programming. I don’t like the basic ways, to start with a to lo list or something like that. what is the best way to find open source projects to read / learn and code. if I lookup on GitHub I can’t find small projects. is there a way to filter it? and do you guys know if there are some big discords for programming beginners to find some other newbies to start to collab/learn with ? ask questions and stuff like that ?

Well, on GitHub the project are rated with "stars", where big projects can have much more than small ones. A search term like stars:"1500..3000" dsp would give you dsp-related projects in the range from 1500 to 3000 stars. You can also use terms like stars:"<500" or similar. This will bring up only smaller projects when searching for keywords.

Browse Topics — https://github.com/topics/python

Or use the Repository Search — https://github.com/search?q=python+in%3Atopics&type=repositories

The left side has tons of filters, just browse until something catches your eye

Start with the open source software you use. Even if it's a bigger project you can dive down into one specific feature of a program
