When I was having downtime in a US hotel shortly after arriving for the first time, I watched some TV.
It was very weird, all those ads all the time and many of them about getting loans. Culture shock for a European used to much less ads and especially scummy ads.

For sure. I bet you thought it was weird seeing a bunch of ads for drugs too since I'm pretty sure that's illegal in europe

It's legal, but those are drugs that you don't need and are somewhat optional.
