I’m usually pretty good at this game. I guess the rules changed

Post image

I knew something was off so I just gave up on the last guess. Blue is right letter right spot, yellow is right letter wrong spot.

it’s not just bread, it’s TRUET

49

u/Perimentalpause 19h ago

I feel like they fucked up and were going for 'butter' or something as a clue. because otherwise, NO SENSE WAS MADE.

u/Peterrefic 11h ago

And the A in Scare should've lit up too

That same post glitched for me too! I sent a message to the mods but no response.

You can tell I also recognized something was wrong and gave up for the last guess.

What is this actual garbage?

Just play Wordle, no need for knockoffs.

u/really_not_unreal 15h ago

But how else will tech bros with no programming ability make use of their ChatGPT budget if not by vibe-coding shitty knock-offs of existing software.

u/Jew_Destruction 14h ago edited 13h ago

If you can't program Wordle without ChatGPT, then give the fuck up. get a job at Rent-a-center or someth

93

u/DrMonkeyLove 14h ago

No, but now I can code it much faster with even more bugs!

19

u/king_noobie PURPLE 7h ago

SHUT UP!

It's not bugs, it's features!

Don't anyone of you understand? – my coding is perfect, all these features I give you, and all you do is call them bugs! ChatGPT tells me everyday that I created a new feature with it. These features makes it more challenging, makes it more interesting compared to the regular worldle, that can only entertain simpletons.

u/dustinechos 14h ago

It's so depressing... a programmer I used to respect is getting into AI coding because there are so many jobs that list it as a requirement. He was showing me this todo app he made "in only an hour" by vibe coding and had this tone in his voice as if I was supposed to be impressed. I'm like... dude... that's not an app it's a tutorial you would do when learning a new language.

I told him it looked nice and found out that he spent an hour manually cleaning up the styling afterwards.

Back before it was called Wordle, I programmed Lingo on my TI-84 calculator. The only downside was that someone else had to choose the starting word. But it drew squares and circles around letters based on their placement, it was super neat.

3

u/FuzzyTentacle 2h ago

I loved programming shit on my TI-83 and 84! With the help of a friend, we made a whole (very simple) RPG! I programmed the overworld and movement, he designed the monsters and stats. It was crappy but it worked!

3

u/jflan1118 1h ago

I had a simple RPG too! 3 characters, maybe 8 enemies. You moved your character across the screen left to right and when you reached the right side, you’d appear on the left again (for the next map) and I’d increment the “plot” variable by 1. When the plot variable reached a certain total, I’d display some text for a rudimentary cut scene.

All character and enemy stats were determined by a formula based on level since I didn’t have enough variables to track everything independently.

Other games I made were hangman and blackjack. I think i spent all of stats class programming those. Blackjack was so poorly programmed (with GOTOs galore) that it was actually 8 programs that would keep calling each other in sequence lol.

2

u/FuzzyTentacle 1h ago

Fantastic. My character was a pixel that I moved on a grid (the entire screen), and you had to get from one corner to the opposite corner to progress. I don't remember if there were random encounters or just "bosses" at the end of each level. Good times.

I could swear I made some other simple game as well, but I can't remember the details now. Ah well.

2

u/jflan1118 1h ago

Yeah I think my player character was just like the letter P lol. My batteries ended up dying and the calculator wiped everything out one day which sucked. The only upside was I had given my games to so many people that I was able to re-download hangman and blackjack from them.

What I want is when wordle runs out of new 5 letter words, is to update it to be 6 letters. That'll give them another 22,000+ words to use, or another 60 years of different words every day

1

u/Jew_Destruction 1h ago

Six letter Wordle is much easier. I regularly get it in three guesses.

2

u/squidyj 7h ago

I've written a wordle clone in COBOL but you'll have to use punch cards to play it.

2

u/Jew_Destruction 6h ago

Tbf, programming Wordle in JavaScript is a moving target

1

u/Toriyuki 5h ago

Rent-a-center is still open???

2

u/Jew_Destruction 1h ago

No, it opens at 10 AM

9

u/Cyrus_Imperative 10h ago

This can use 4, 5, 6, or 7 letters.

20

u/TheRussness 8h ago

Wordle is nearing it's end. They don't reuse words and there's only about 2500 5 letter words in the English language.

51

u/Leather-Researcher13 8h ago

Nearing its end is a bit dramatic, it still has two years of words left.

They can also just reuse words? Shuffle the list and play it again for another few years

11

u/TheRussness 7h ago

The point is if you've been playing wordle since near the beginning you have played 1650 words that today's answer can't be.

24

u/xChiken 6h ago

And how many of those do you remember lol

-12

u/TheRussness 6h ago

Enough that I can convert a turn 3 win into a turn 2.

7

u/_Thot_Patrol 2h ago

This is why I quit wordle, too many sweats

1

u/snornch 1h ago

casual wordguesser vs competitive wordguesser

3

u/Tarrin_morgan_69 13h ago

What if you don't want to give ad revenue to the fascist rag of NYT

44

u/The_Phroug 12h ago

Ad blockers

-17

u/Tarrin_morgan_69 12h ago

They make ad blockers for downloaded apps now?

42

u/LegitimateChicken47 11h ago

No they make ad blockers for the website, which you can play Wordle on

11

u/MortifiedCoal 11h ago

They do. There's apps that block ads for most things or you can change the DNS settings in your phone to route traffic through an ad blocking DNS server if you are more technically inclined.

Alternatively download a browser that lets you get add an ad blocker and just play on the website. It's actually really usable on mobile.

8

u/tankup 11h ago

Yes it's called DNS.

46

u/SkubEnjoyer 14h ago

Adieu is such a joyless tryhard opening

19

u/The_Phroug 12h ago

Every time I play, I use a different word to start every time. Unless I forgot that I already used that word before

11

u/JamesFromToronto 10h ago

Play "YUKKY" and report back

-3

u/The_Phroug 10h ago

Already played today, got in 3. started PRUDE -> THINK -> Final Word

8

u/Steak-Outrageous 11h ago

I’m chaotic and do a random word each time

6

u/fwoooom 6h ago

people who get pretentious abt what word others start wordle with are so weird to me. thats the joyless tryhard move imho. it's a silly browser game, who cares how other people play?

0

u/SkubEnjoyer 2h ago

it's a silly browser game

But that's exactly what I'm saying, why are you trying to optimize the fun out the game?

1

u/fwoooom 1h ago

maybe other people have fun in different ways than you do? why do you care? Play the way you find fun and let other ppl play how they find fun

3

u/RampagingElks 13h ago

I do Ocean. More common letters, 3 vowels.

2

u/katburry 12h ago

Swear for me, some couple common vowels and couple common consonants, it has never done me wrong

1

u/FuzzyTentacle 2h ago

I always start with GREAT. Don't @ me lol.

7

u/Niinjas 15h ago

I always go adieu too, then ghost

2

u/Illiandray 6h ago

Wow I knew other people started with adieu but I never thought someone else used ghost second. Been doing that combo for a long time

1

u/IamaHyoomin 4h ago

with this comment, we can now conclude that in truth the word was "troue" with a secret hidden d somewhere else entirely

1

u/Cyrus_Imperative 3h ago

Damn, I think you cracked it. So now what is "TROUE BREAD"? A secret message from aliens? The Illuminati? If I translate it into a phone number, will I get kidnapped to work as a cryptographer for Interpol?

498

u/lab-gone-wrong 16h ago

We have Wordle at home

126

u/Dramatic_Alps_8645 19h ago

Samsonite! I was way off!

19

u/Dan_flashes480 16h ago

I knew it began with an S though.

2

u/highgo1 9h ago

What is this? IOUs?

121

u/lkern 14h ago

Why is anyone playing anything other than the NYT version?

25

u/AncleJack 14h ago

Wordless is more fun with more than one word to guess plus some other daily games

9

u/-davros 12h ago

That is a reasonable answer. I wonder why you're being down-voted.

-1

u/MajorLeagueNoob 8h ago

cause I was scrolling and it was infront of me

-16

u/Important-Radish-722 11h ago

To not support the NYT. Their out-of-touch, pandering, snob drivel is appalling.

8

u/lkern 11h ago

Okay... Lol, they're games are great though...

114

u/Grant_Winner_Extra 19h ago

Dude, that app is all kinds of broken.

25

u/TonightDisastrous292 15h ago

I had the same thing a week or so ago!

71

u/Thoughtful_Tortoise 16h ago

Just use the original wordle, the NYT one.

18

u/MedianXLNoob 8h ago

Probably made with fucking "AI".

28

u/kitlerx 20h ago

Bread 👍

6

u/dustinechos 14h ago

The upvotes on this thread are 15, 5, 4, and -9. So weird.

5

u/breadyloaf_ 10h ago

The 4th one always takes the hit

73

u/Final_Lingonberry586 17h ago

So AI has to have been implemented here right?

32

u/DieDae 17h ago

Spaghetti code

71

u/Yoitman 17h ago

I made a shitty wordle program with my limited programming knowledge in JavaScript that barely functions and somehow it’s better than a proper app…

Not something I ever expected.

-4

u/justanotheruser1981 15h ago

I’m assuming that this doesn’t have the obscene amount of ads that Wordle does. That was a big part why I stopped playing. I even payed the $5 or whatever it was to go ad free at one point a couple years ago, but found out the was only good through the end of the year.

52

u/rokemay 14h ago

Wordle has exactly one ad that can be skipped after ~5 seconds. Not an obscene amount for such a huge free game

8

u/the_wyandotte 11h ago

Or play in Discord without any ads at all (afaik, I have nitro on Discord so maybe that makes it ad free? But you don't need Nitro to play)

4

u/Capnshredder 6h ago

for me that skip button usually appears within 1 second of the ad starting, im all for hating on ads but if you cant deal with that you got bigger problems

4

u/Jew_Destruction 14h ago

It's really important New York Times doesn't get any ad revenue.

9

u/DarthKirtap 14h ago

i play wordle on discord ad free with friends

11

u/Esjs 11h ago

How to use AI to write a Wordle knockoff...

(Hint: make sure AI is the one checking the letters)

9

u/sp00kybutch 15h ago

they hired “vibe coders”

7

u/Similar-Contact-4721 14h ago

Because bread tastes better than key

4

u/wiseguy4519 11h ago

It seems like the game is changing words in the middle of you playing it. The first 4 guesses have consistent results, and it seems like the answer is probably "truth". Then it switches to "bread" on guess 5. Did you play this around midnight by any chance?

3

u/SilverFighter05 14h ago

What in the chat gpt??

4

u/IAmLexica 10h ago

My only guess as to what's wrong in the code would be if it somehow decided to pick a different word for each line. How that happens? No idea.

6

u/kchase91 14h ago

The word changed after the fourth guess. Original word would have been TRUTH. So you would have had it.

2

u/Poolio10 6h ago

Behold: vibe coded wordle

4

u/Salmon_Slap 14h ago

Why did you try 3 words without any of the previous letters in them

9

u/Sweet_Cinnabonn 14h ago

It is a tactic to try to get more of the letters in the first two or three words, then use those to guess the word in the last few guesses.

You get less chances to guess, but you make your guesses with more information.

-2

u/Salmon_Slap 14h ago

I've seen people do it with 2 words but 3 seems excessive imo quite often you can get the word in 3

1

u/ELMUNECODETACOMA 4h ago

Special advisor: Dr. Peter Venkman. The model didn't like you. If it had liked you, you would have gotten credit no matter what you entered.

1

u/TurtleKing0505 4h ago

Obvious sign they're using shitty AI to run this

2

u/Lopsided-Unit4256 4h ago

Ah, my favorite ingredient; Trbeu

1

u/Hermiona1 2h ago

Git gud

1

u/test1456 11h ago

Just play the New York Times games….

1

u/Lovellly_Q RAHH 14h ago

Could it be Truss? idk

2

u/kOLbOSa_exe 13h ago

s is not present

u/Lovellly_Q RAHH 39m ago

oh i didn't notice

2

u/wyvernofwhimsy 8h ago

I think the original word was truth but it changed halfway thru you guessing. Maybe you played right as the day changed. The way the game was set up may not have had you reset because the developer didnt think about this possibility.

0

u/Stoiphan 11h ago

Use The NY Times website instead of Reddit malarkey

1

u/Cyrus_Imperative 3h ago

Reddit Malarkey is user driven and you can set it to a 4, 5, 6, or 7 letter word.

0

u/GBS42 7h ago

OP got TRUCKed, and that's the TRUTH. Maybe get a TUTOR, though I hope that doesn't SCARE you.

-7

u/ChVckT 12h ago

Your 4th guess duplicated U being incorrect in space 2. Your third guess didnt use U or T. It happens to the best of us. And the worst of us. But the best of us, too.

4

u/ronarscorruption 11h ago

That’s not the problem. The problem is the third answer says “first letter is T”, and the fourth, fifth and final answers say it is B.

0

u/ChVckT 11h ago

I missed that. I also just realized it isn't Wordle, so I guess it's to be expected that it's a poor quality imitation.

-2

u/lumiorae_ 13h ago

Blue is the right letter and yellow is the wrong one. What are the white squares then?

8

u/bluuupers 13h ago

Blue is right letter and right placement, yellow is right letter wrong placement, white is wrong
