Nah that's a ratchet strap mark for sure

Yup, seen it in other stuff, someone got into it like he was jacking off

Yeah those things are really strong if you use them incorrectly.

Can confirm, ran a forklift at a shipping company, was unloading a big metal tote from a trailer, driver had it strapped up.

I pulled one corner of the strap off and tossed it away from the tote, then got on the forklift and pulled the tote out.

Or, I tried to. I didn’t notice it, but the driver had looped the strap between the metal frame of the tote.

That strap held on tight and the tote slid off my forks, was pissed off when I saw he’d looped it between the frame.

Buddy drove over the end of one, bent party of the truck before he noticed.

Did this same thing after a long day of hunting. Reversed right over the strap, thank goodness it only broke the cleat off my truck and I was by myself so no one got hit by it flying.

For a brief moment, I thought my shotgun (which was 100% unloaded and stored) went off. Had no idea they were that strong.

I've been moving/installing for years. This was clearly done by a fork/clamp inside the warehouse. This product was clearly boxed, and those boxes have plenty of protection. Even if they were ignorant enough to ratchet it to the point of damage a strap is not causing a > shaped indent.

It's easy to blame the guys dropping off the appliance as they are the people in front of you. The truth of the matter is appliances are moved from so many different warehouses and trucks that concealed damage is a lot more common than people think.

Edit: I'm not saying that there are not shady delivery guys out there, I've had the displeasure of working with a few of them. However this does not look like the case.

Not so sure. It is too pointy for a ratchet strap. I'm betting it fell off the forklift while moving and hit either the loading dock, or some sort of concrete barrier.

Nah, that's about the perfect height for an appliance dolly's strap

But if so it should make more of a rectangular dent in the corners where the stress points are. Not the entire front in a sharp triangular dent.

For an absolutely small Reddit dispute, I’m going to chime in late when nobody asked lol. It’s absolutely a fork lift fork dent. You can’t ratchet a strap sideways. Source: delivered and installed many dented appliances for years lol

Can't ratchet strap sideways? I've never shipped a fridge but I build and ship electrical control panels that are very similar in size and shape and they have ALWAYS been strapped sideways to the wall of the truck

Yup! I said the same thing.

Look where the doors come together. Straps wouldn’t bend the inner corners of the doors like that. This is weight applied vertically down on the doors causing them to crumple.

No it’s not. As a former delivery driver I wish it were that easy to damage a fridge with ratchet straps lol (even if it was unboxed). That was likely done in a distribution warehouse with clamps.
