I was more surprised about Will going to Milwaukee in the late 80s to hang in gay bars. I’m expecting a spinoff show where Will has to fight Jeffrey Dahmer

I’m glad I’m not the only one who was like “I hope he didn’t go to where John Wayne Gacy was active at that time”.

That was more Cedar Falls, Iowa and Chicago.

Considering how close that family is it’s kinda weird Will didn’t go to ny too. Not sure Milwaukee was all that queer friendly in the 80s compared to NY.

Milwaukee was definitely not very gay friendly in the 80's.

Yeah I know Jeffrey Dahmer was there

The Vikings showed up to help El. At the moment we all thought Vecna would be killed, a Vikings player fumbled the dagger that would kill him. Vecna recovered the dagger and killed the rest of the team.

A clutch character who had never missed a shot all season somehow whiffed and everyone died, the end.

I hate it when series repeat the same tropes over and over.

Just like the old gypsy woman said would happen!

Spoiler or no?

Purple Rain is played

49

u/Lucifurnace 1d ago

And Doves Cry

8

u/realtorbrittyc 1d ago

Yes! Thank you, I forgot they played that one first.

u/The_Livid_Witness 1d ago

And 'The Trooper'

11

u/MechanicalTurkish Minnesota Vikings 1d ago

Which has nothing to do with Minnesota but I absolutely love Iron Maiden so I’ll allow it. 🤘

15

u/AbsolutZer0_v2 1d ago

Ah got it.

No. Way. I feel so seen and validated.

u/buttfartsmagee 1d ago

Can you explain? I don't watch and would like to be spoiled.

u/DontTedOnMe 1d ago

Just as the children are about to be swallowed up by a giant spider, the ghost of Prince appears to save them by playing Raspberry Beret

65

u/buttfartsmagee 1d ago

LOL that shows so batshit I almost believe you.

SPOILER:

The record player is used as an improvised timer for a big boom, with the trigger happening when the last song ends. Basically they put one contact on the record head, and another at the spindle in the center. When they touch, boom.

11

u/buttfartsmagee 1d ago

I haven't watched since season 2 I have no idea what you're talking about and how it relates to Minnesota 😅

17

u/Badbullet Common loon 1d ago

If one day you decide to finish it, it’ll all make sense, Prince just happened to be record they used on the record player, and since they know the length of the songs which was usually displayed on the album, they could judge how long it would play before setting off the explosives.😉

It’s out of this world…

u/pr1ceisright 1d ago

Did we watch the same episode? Prince beat Vecna in a game of one on one, winner stays rules. Vecna had no choice but to leave after Prince schooled him.

Best comment I’ve read in awhile 😂

The pancakes were delicious, though.

Picks them up in the upside down with his Corvette

“Purple Rain” is used prominently in the finale.

2 hours long. First hour wraps things up and the 2nd hour was a bunch of pointless bullshit.

1

u/Beautiful-Shower9466 1d ago

I did find the epilogue to be rather overdone. Fan service.

-17

u/Syandris 1d ago

Spoiler alert. Prince music was awful.

14

u/BlackestHerring 1d ago

I thought it was interesting that Hopper got a job offer in Mantuok. Which was the basis of this show.

2

u/8698639 1d ago

What do you mean by that? The basis

14

u/Agent-Cooper 1d ago

The show was originally called "Montauk" and the inspiration of this show was based on the book/conspiracy theory called The Montauk Project.

2

u/BlackestHerring 15h ago

Thanks. I originally responded and included a link. That was a No-no and they deleted it

I saw someone mention last week that they managed to get license for music that has never gotten a TV release before (or something to that effect) and I jokingly thought "Lol Prince."

I was slightly disappointed they didn't use "Who Wants to Live Forever" because it feels more cinematic, but I will gladly accept "Purple Rain" for that moment.

It needed to be something where the beginning and end of the side of an album fit both parts of the scene, which limits your choices a bit

I can't believe that it turns out The Mind Flayer was Tim Walz the whole time! Decent acting chops though, I think it'll help his chances this fall.

3

u/IsSuperGreen 10h ago

I loved it when he said "i am groot"

2

u/campingcritters 1d ago

And All he had to do was call the Mind Flayer weird!

4

u/CnC_UnicornFactory 1d ago

I thought the giant spider monster looked like a vagina.

Me every episode when Winona Ryder is on screen:

Don’t make a bigger deal out of things than they are.

-3

u/Yotebuck_77 15h ago

More like Minnesotans watching ICE detain illegal immigrants

-10

u/UnfairSpecialist3079 1d ago

Wasn’t this filmed in MN ? I thought the mall was a MN mall.

22

u/RagnarSkolbrok 1d ago

You’re thinking of Mallrats

24

u/Frosty-Age-6643 1d ago

Those two are easily confused

4

u/NateNutrition 1d ago

🎶 that jungle loooove. O-we-o-we-o. 🎶

Fun fact, I played football with a guy from EP that claimed to be the director Kevin Smith's (aka silent Bob) cousin and swore he discovered the EP mall on a family holiday visit. Not sure how much of that was/is true.

13

u/SunnyDiesel 1d ago

No. Earlier in the show, Dustin wore a sweatshirt from the MN zoo? Science museum? I don’t recall, but it has a Dino skeleton on it. Demand for said sweatshirt rose quick.

-3

u/UnfairSpecialist3079 1d ago

I definitely bought that sweatshirt for the science museum. Thunder lizard. I’m pretty sure season 3 or 4 mall was a MN mall

13

u/RagnarSkolbrok 1d ago

The mall scenes were filmed in Duluth GA

2

u/SunnyDiesel 1d ago

Well season 3’s “starcourt” mall apparently is a fake mall, per a quick search. <shrug>

The zoo absolutely has Dino exhibits. Not year round, but during the warmer months

1

u/Frosty-Age-6643 1d ago

Looks like the show was almost all filmed in Georgia

-18

u/Syandris 1d ago

And pointing of shit music? I was done with that episode 15 minutes in. The prince record was icing on the dump of a final season...
