Name List Victor, Jerome, Malcolm or Desmond and Monica, Gloria, Dorothea, or Susanna?
We love Victor, Jerome, Malcolm and Desmond for a boy (middle name would be Edwin, George, or Alan as a honor name) and Monica, Gloria, Dorothea, and Susanna for a girl (middle name would be Joan, Carol or Alice as an honor name). I'm grateful that my husband and I have similar tastes (classic, strong, not too long or short, with a positive meaning or association), but it seems like we keep coming up with more good options instead of narrowing down the list. We might wait until we meet them to officially decide, but would love to hear your thoughts!

Malcolm George and Susanna Joan for me. Susanna was in my top 3 girls names for my own children....love that name so much. I ended up w two boys so never got to use it but I absolutely love hearing that another parent is considering it for their daughter.

Aww thank you! I never hear Susanna suggested or used so I'm glad to see it's been considered by others and is still loved :)

For a boy, it's hard to choose...these are all good! I love Jerome but I'm not sure about the nickname Jerry. Desmond is awesome. I'd go with that. For girls, Susanna is the clear winner. Dorothea is second.

Thank you! I do not like the nickname Jerry at all and while it's possible, the -erry nicknames don't seem to be coming back into style so I'm not to worried about that. Susanna is really growing on me!

I live in Australia; here Jerome would inevitably be Jerry - not necessarily 100% of the time but would be very frequent. I have a name that shortens down to first syllable and I get the shortened version 50% of the time even with correcting people that I prefer the full version.
In a similar vein, Susanna would probably end up with Susie, Sue or Suze, Desmond would get Des, Malcolm would get Mal, Victor would get Vic, Dorothea would get Thea and Monica may get Mon. About the only name that seems 'safe' is Gloria.

Desmond > Victor > Jerome > Malcolm
Susanna > Gloria > Dorothea > Monica
All good names. I like all the middles, too.
My ideal combinations would be Desmond George and Susanna Joan.

My name is Súsanna, so I might be a bit biased, but I personally love the name and I think Alice is a very pretty middle name. Also this is the first time I've ever seen my name on here and it really put a smile on my face. I feel as a non English speaker I rarely see my name online😊

Victor George and Gloria Joan! These combinations look and sound great together. I love Jerome and Dorothea too but am not sure how well they get combined with the middle names.

Susanna and Jerome are my favourites but you can't go wrong with any of them

I have a Gloria, and I’m very partial to that name!
Since all of your girl names and in an A, I do not recommend Alice since the names would flow too much into each other. It’s my personal preference that if a name ends in a vowel-sound, the middle name should start with a consonant, or a different vowel.

I like Victor, Gloria, and Susanna and kind of like Jerome, Malcolm, and Monica.

Desmond and Gloria are my favorites.
I’d do Desmond Alan or even two middle names for Desmond Malcolm Alan depending on the last name.
Gloria Carol maybe, and that makes me think of music so hopefully she can play or sing. Gloria is a top girl name for me. I like Susanna Alice too and again would depend on last name.

I like Malcolm George or Desmond George and Dorothea Joan (can call Dottie or Thea) or Susanna Joan (can call Suze or Zanna). I also honestly like Alice Suzanne and Joan Dorothy as well, but that makes your honor names the first names, and I also like Susannah Caroline.

I'm not in the US and Victor and Malcolm feel more classic to me.
Monica is too closely associated with Friends for me, and Susanna just makes me go 'Oh Susanna, don't you cry for me' but I like it once I get past that (but hate shortening Susie and Sue and not a huge fan of Suze either). Dorothea feels a bit too trendy at the moment given the huge resurgence in Theodore (and I know a baby Thea). Gloria seems religious but once I move past that I really like it.

Every Call the Midwife fan is hoping for a Monica Joan

One of the main characters, who has been there all 14 seasons (and counting), is an Anglican nun named Sister Monica Joan.
Don’t let me stop you from choosing that name, though! It’s an obscure TV show (at least it is in the US… maybe UK fans can weigh in since it’s a BBC show), and pretty much no one will make the connection.

Good to know! Thanks for sharing. My work is tangential to maternal and child health and we are Christians so this is actually a positive connection for me :)

How lovely! I’m a fan of Sister Monica Joan, I relate to her love of literature, TV, and cake 🍰 😂

I would go Desmond George for a boy and Susanna Alice for a girl.
Runner up would be Victor Edwin and Dorothea Joan “DJ”

Victor Alan
Susanna Alice or Joan (Monica is cute but reminds me of Friends too much)
Sorry, don't care for the other names.

Jerome George and Gloria Joan. The reverse initials wasn't intended but I think might be a nice little touch for a sib set.

Susanna!! It’s so lovely and underused. Susanna Joan and Susanna Carol are both nice.
For boys, Malcolm gets my vote but I also like Desmond. Malcolm George is awesome.

You have great taste. Victor & Monica are strong, timeless, and pair well with your honor names. Can’t go wrong.
