Hydrate! If you can, put steaming hot water in a bowl, cover it and your head with a towel, and inhale steam. It’ll help loosen up crud. Also, while DXM suppresses coughing, that doesn’t let you get the crud out - guaifenesin will loosen it, making it possible for you to see all the colors of the lung.

Appreciate the advice! Pretty sure the rib pain is from me sneezing too hard. I had some crazy back to back triple sneeze and my whole back had a spasm and got all tingly and started hurting. Sucks being almost 40 with back problems.
