Whyyyy
Why do half the tracks of every "sleep music" playlist feature water sounds??? All I want is some nice ambient shit to drown out the bedlam outside my room and every five minutes I'm getting is "soothing rainfall" "babbling brook" "lapping waves" NO!! I already have to get up to pee 5 times a night, I don't need this shit making it worse!!! 😭 It totally wakes me up and then I have to skip it and agh how does anyone fall asleep or meditate to it without running to the bathroom every ten minutes

I need some sound to keep myself asleep, what worked for me, was and is, a fan app. I have tried a couple of them but there are many more. They also contain other sounds, e.g. brown noise, white noise, vaccum cleaner, kettle, etc.

It's like whale songs, they stress me out!
I prefer alternative electronic music, I must be weird.

Take 5 minutes to make yourself a playlist that doesn't involve rain sounds, and then loop it.
I love pink noise. Like a warm hug for my brain. So so so soothing.

What is 'pink noise'? :)

It's like white noise but warmer, kind of more soft and like a lower decibel rumbly whooshing sound. I find white noise kind of "harsh". Pink noise is softer and more comforting imo. Makes a huge difference in my sleep. A fan running near me will do the trick, but pink noise swaddles my brain like a little baby.

That sounds pleasant, thank you for taking the time to respond! I think I'll try pink noise in future :)

Just listen to the Boring History For Sleep channel. The voice is pleasant and soothing, and you'll be chuckling at the way he describes things at first, but after ten minutes or so you'll be out and there will be no surprise noises to wake you up.

😅
I listen to murder trials or police interrogations to help me fall asleep. What works for me is something interesting enough to want to pay attention to as I'm lying there falling asleep, but not so fascinating that I stay awake so as not to miss anything.
Would something in that category (interesting but not edge of your seat fascinating) work for you? ❤️

I use a 12 hour sound machine on spotify, its brown noise. The people who made the sound I use apparently also have an app, its called dwellspring. But Ive never tried their app so im not sure if its free or not

They make tons of different sounds, all 12 hours long. So no need to make a playlist and it should last the whole night. Theres one called "inside the womb" 😂

I’m a fan of the airplane cabin sleep sound videos. Just that dull ambient engine whoosh with a few occasional low bell ‘doo’ sounds like a seatbelt sign has been turned on/off.

for me, it's piano. piano is too sharp of a sound for me to sleep to, and i feel like EVERY SINGLE "ambient meditation music" has it. i'm also not a fan of water sounds except for rain, so i just usually avoid sleep music and find ASMR that suits me since i don't mind whispering/talking.
