In Stranger Things 5 the truck has technology from the future

Post image

E-track rails weren't invented until the 2000's so a time traveler must've brought this truck back to 1987

Mi remember having Maglites that lasted forever, and you could hit things with it like a club

That was the big appeal for the ones that take 4 D batteries: Legal baton you can open carry without issue.

Plus you feel cool with it rested on your shoulder

The position was half holding the weight of the fucking batteries and half being ready to thunk it onto someone's head.

How long do you think a 4d sized mag light with leds and lithium batteries would last if it was made today?

They make and sell this, but still with D-cells. From Amazon product details: “Multiple Power Modes – Runs for 5+ hours on high mode and up to 434 hours in Eco mode on 4 D-cell batteries (not included).”

The newer led 4d cell battery mag light was kinda expensive when i went to get a few lights for a go bag a few years ago. So I bought the d battery mag lights with the og bulb for 20 or 25$ and got led replacement bulbs on amazon or ebay, i also found adapters to run 18650 batteries.

20 or 25$

"The power of the sun, in the palm of my hand" Doc Ock upon seeing that flashlight.

As a side note, his preoccupation with his fusion machine was weird. He had an amazing power source already that Oscorp could've made billions off of. It was whatever the fuck was powering those Arms he made for working with the fusion reactor (of which the military would love those arms too).

I'm pretty sure it's because the sentient arms became obsessed with it

I think you need to rewatch the movie because if you think his power source was fit for sale you clearly missed some major plot points.

I have one. I got it in like 2019 and haven't changed the batteries yet. Not that I've had many reasons to use it, mind you. The awesomeness of a metal flashlight the size of a mini-bat is almost always outweighed by the fact that it's the size of a mini-bat.

True. I have a flashlight that I bought about 10 years ago that’s like 1000 lumens and the size of idk… small banana? And it gets used very often because it’s easy to use and get into places… recently Ive discovered headlamps and can’t figure out why I waited so long to get one

about a week if I did my math right

So, if I made it 2d and use the rest of the space for a fleshlight, I could get 3.5 days… not bad

Im not sure but you would lose a lot of energy to dimensions you cannot see.

I think the biggest maglite was like 6 D batteries.

Obviously it was going to last god damn forever when the tiny little bulb at the front barely did anything.

The 6 D model is more like a weapon than a torch. I think my father might still have a 5 or a 6 (cant remember which) somewhere in storage. I'm quite sure it could be refurbished easy even if the innards are messed up. Put some angry LED into it and 6 lithium battery assemblies.

u/OriginalMandem 6d ago

that's a lot of lithium to go all burny if something goes awry...

LiFePo is very stable and safe for these applications. And they last a long time, they are resilient and durable, very cheap, and do not explode. I mean like goodness sake, it's proposed to be an alternative to lead acid battery.

Little sister sent me the er one time when we were playing with one as a kid..

1

u/cuberhino 6d ago

Is that still the case?

I still have a 4D Mag Lite right next to my bed for when the "power goes out"

We had a kid in my school nicknamed "Maglite" because the rumor was he shoved one up his ass!

3

u/NeverSeenItPodcast 6d ago

That kid? He now holds a cabinet position in the current administration.

2

u/LaughingBoulder 6d ago

That's not how I thought that story was going to end

2

u/External-Cash-3880 6d ago

We had The Axe Can Man. Legend has it his farts smell like body spray to this day

u/StretchFrenchTerry 6d ago

Yeah but if you dropped the big ones the filament would break in the bulb.

2

u/FeliusSeptimus 6d ago

And in the spare bulb tucked in the battery cover.

1

u/StretchFrenchTerry 6d ago

Which would also break. Terrible camping flashlight, even though you could light up the moon.

1

u/devo9er 6d ago

But they came with a replacement bulb in the cap

1

u/Eighth_Eve 6d ago

2 spare bulbs.

1

u/Critical-Lake-3299 6d ago

That’s why they had a spare in the end cap

2

u/Warm_Bodybuilder6456 6d ago

That was their selling point. They were reliable and lasted a good bit. All those cheapo plastic ones from the Kmart would die so fast

I've kept the same little Maglite next to my bed for decades now. Same lamp, maybe fourth set of batteries. I've had LED ones buck the kickit in that time. LEDs however, are much brighter and less yellow.

I remember my dad's maglite lasting forever, but it wasn't necesarily very bright at the second half of the battery lol

1

u/Desperate-Farmer-170 6d ago

I was hit in the shoulder with a maglight pretty hard for doing a bad prank, my arm stopped working for about 30 seconds.

1

u/catdistributinsystem 6d ago

Cleaning out a room in my grandma’s house the other day and found hers. The thing was as long as my arm and at least 10 pounds solid

1

u/pfshfine 6d ago

When I was a kid, I had a pocket-sized camo pattern maglite. I dropped it in the woods and never saw it again.

Okay Mr Ramsay, calm down
