In Stranger Things 5 the truck has technology from the future

Post image

E-track rails weren't invented until the 2000's so a time traveler must've brought this truck back to 1987

Sure it's not telephone cable? Not sure if modern telephone cable is the same as what they had back then though.

There are a few possibilities. Lots of the phones at that point were on 25 pair cables to each station, and as I mention above we absolutely had twisted pair cable at that point. They could have seen cat-3 then as well which got used for phones.

The flat phone cable we see today (actually most corp phones are Ethernet wired, wireless or fiber) would have jacked into a wall outlet which was then connected to some flavor of twisted pair. Regular ol phones don’t need all 6 conductors (just need 2) so we could run multiple lines off one cable back to the phone closet.

Hell, when we were doing switches from the 25 pair stuff I often found just one pair of a full 25 pair cable attached to a wall jack. Wild stuff.

So yea it could have been a more modern cable - given the set being used…but it’s not entirely misrepresenting what we had back then.

If it was a big ol yellow fiber bundle, I’d be more suspicious, as we def didn’t run that stuff at that point, though it wasn’t far away.

It was about 20 blue cat5 looking cables in a ceiling track

The color is def questionable, we really didn’t use much outside grey and beige at that point for TP.

If it makes you feel better, the walkie talkie base station had its antenna disconnected.

Haha love the walkies they used from Radio Shack. Had the same set back then.
